Rob Smith, a Black LGBTQ conservative, was the target of homophobic & racist harassment during the Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix. He says the N word was used and he felt he might get his brains bashed in — but also feels the need to say there is racism on both sides of the aisle when asked about it. Let’s talk about this… Yes, there are racist liberals. No doubt about it. The difference — racist rhetoric is regularly coming from the likely nominee of the Republic party and his base thrives on it. As a Black liberal, I get racist replies to my posts. I also get racist DMs & death threats, but they are always from right-wingers. I understand why some Black folks identify as conservative, but I will never understand how they would be part of a party that has a base wanting them subservient and/or dead. There’s self loathing going on there.
