That verse was never in the original Gospel it was an addition … you don’t need to literally fast to cast out Demons, you simply need to speak the TRUTH of God … the Truth sets a person free. More modern bibles account for this and correct the error.

I’ve seen things like this years ago and not just leaving verses out but rewriting scripture. I know people will claim it’s just a modern day version so no big deal. I prefer KJV and this is one reason why.

No they aren't, this is like Mark 9:44, 46, Acts 8:37, Luke 23:34, the longer ending of Mark, and the comma Johaneum. They weren't in the original manuscripts. Most bibles still show them in the footnotes.

Matthew 17:21 is an issue of textual variants. A few Greek manuscript copues of Matthew includes verse 21, but most do not. The earliest manuscripts do not contain it at all. It is most likely that it was imported from Mark 9:29 a parallel passage. A copyist either got confused
