Soon “software engineer” will mean “person who explains to the AI why production is on fire.”

Introducing Vals-Smith: turn your code base into a customized benchmark. Public benchmarks tell you which model is strongest overall, not which model is the best on your code. Vals-Smith turns your merged pull requests into real coding tasks and measures the percentage a model can actually resolve. New models ship every week. Vals-Smith tells you which one to trust with your code.

You can now use the Claude Code and Codex harnesses directly whenever you start a cloud agent in Warp. Here's engineer Lili Wilson to show how to implement a real feature in the cloud, with computer use and automated code review to validate work:

Anthropic code review this, clanker review that ... why don't you shut up and review+annotate your own code.... (yes im a loser who still manually reviews code) Originally inspired by a bunch of feature requests and then seeing Dillon Mulroy tweet a similar cool ux. plannotator for reviewing plans (primary focus) and code, fully oss. OpenCode, Mario Zechner 's and Claude Code and other clankers

Claude Code is now free to run. Most people still think you need a paid setup. Here’s the basic flow: → Install Claude Code with the official installer. → Create a free OpenRouter account. → Grab your API key. → Install Claude Code Router. → Point Claude Code to the local router. → Choose a free model with the :free suffix. → Run CCR code instead of normal Claude Code. → Check /status to confirm it works. You keep the Claude Code workflow. You just route it through a free model.

AI code reviews are promising, BUT they're hard to control and currently all closed source. That's why we built GPTLint: It's an automated code review tool powered by both ASTs and LLMs – the best part is it's a 100% OSS standard that works w/ any LLM 🔥

Nobody is writing 90% of their code using AI. Here's the uncomfortable truth: The real productivity gain from using AI to write code is closer to 10%, nowhere near the 90% people claim. Sundar Pichai said in 2024 that 30% of the new code at Google was AI-generated. However, he went on to admit, during Lex Friedman's podcast, that engineering velocity had only increased by about 10%. AI-generated code isn't free code. It still has to be reviewed, tested, and made production-ready. Optimizing a single step (code generation) doesn't boost output if bottlenecks shift elsewhere (code reviews). It doesn't matter how much code you generate if you can't keep up the review process. The solution: Automate as much as you can the review and verification of your code. I'm working with Sonar, who is sponsoring this post, and they will take care of the code quality and security analysis of your code: • They review over 300B lines of code every single day • They cover reliability, security, and maintainability for your code • You can integrate them into your CI/CD pipeline • You can install them in your IDE (I use their VSCode extension) • Support for more than 30 languages Here is a link so you can check them out:

Anthropic Engineer Andrej Karpathy: "LLM models writes code - and now it writes it better than you." Now LLMs write 70–90% of production code at top AI labs. Agents need the same thing: a loop that verifies its own output. No baseline = no benchmark = no improvement. In this 15-min talk, Karpathy breaks down how AI models actually works.

Head of OpenAI's API: "Codex is really good at reviewing code. Codex reviews all of our PRs. It makes code reviews go from a 10-15 minute task to sometimes a 2-3 minute task, because you have a bunch of suggestions already baked in. For small PRs, you actually don't even need people to review them, we trust Codex."

Boris has Claude Code loops running on cron all day - One babysits his PRs and fixes CI - Another keeps CI healthy - Another pulls Twitter feedback every 30 min and clusters it His Claude Code setup is simple and pretty close to mine That's what I like about Claude Code. Hundreds of options, but the simplest setup just works, you probably don't need more than that And since one of those loops reads Twitter every 30 min, Boris Cherny (or his Claude on cron) is reading this post whether he wants to or not 😅

introducing Ascii: The pocket CTO you send it voice memos on Telegram or instructions from your desktop then Ascii handles it all: > writes code and sends you demos, PDF reports and hosted builds when finished > orchestrates many cloud coding agents working in parallel that can plan, code, test and use their desktop > uses codex, claude code SDKs & subscriptions, no API keys required > works on multiple repositories at once > setups cron jobs and webhooks to schedule work when you sleep > supports secrets, git hooks, full cloud machines config with sudo & 60fps desktop access Welcome to a new era of software building where coding agents aren't mere assistants anymore, now they're as valuable and proactive as a world-class CTO, always at arm's reach, in your pocket
