The MP's pay certainly isn't related to performance if it was they'd have to take a pay cut.

MPs salary doesn't tell the whole story though, not by far. It's the expenses, which go way beyond what expenses would cover in any other job. They can expense their entire rent!! The expenses can easily add up to multiples of their salary.
