Treason means "levying War against them [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort," per US Constitution Art. III Sec 3. The US has had no enemies since 1945, when the war with Germany, Italy and Japan ended. The last treason conviction in the United States to be upheld was in 1952 against Tomoya Kawakita, convicted for mistreating American POWs while working at a Japanese war-materials plant during World War II.
