The genesis of these types of conversations comes about when people didn't measure up to the ultimate prize and didnt maximise their talents and time spent in the league, but also feel the need to diminish someone with hypothetical scenarios in order to elevate themselves or others. The talking points are curated hypotheticals that are never based in any facts (because they cant be proven definitively), just to prop up some and diminish others for engagement debates and taking advantage of the algorithms. Stick the facts as they are and discuss them as is. Let the chips fall where they may (that unfortunately won't benefit a lot of persons the curated narratives were designed to benefit and won't diminish those persons who are stamped in history but a lot of the media and a host of the social media community want to be erased). Kind of tough for McGrady because we as Kobe fans have really been on him for that comment. Rightfully so, but he really been a Kobe defender for a while now. He got caught in the crossfire of a bad comment about a legend he respects.. McGrady and Kobe and some great battles and as far as 2 guards there was a conversation of who was better at a time. That’s warranted because McGrady had one of the best scoring/ability peaks of all time. Bean was better offensively (2006 was the proof) and had more intangibles when it comes to winning and more defensive ability. Regardless T-Mac was a great player. Kobe was better. And I don’t think you can just plug and play T-Mac in the triangle with Shaq and they riddle off championships. McGrady prolly didn’t mean it this way, but when you say that you cheapen what Kobe did. Those are Kobe and Shaq’s rings. Let’s not try to put people in there and say they could have done the same thing when in reality it’s most likely not true.
