Before I left Oregon I had learned we had the shortest school year in the nation. Seems intentional to me. Keep the population stupid and they’ll keep voting democrat. It’s time we bring back critical thinking and basic standards for teaching.

They intentionally harm our children in so many ways it is criminal. My wife just got a text that her friends son just committed suicide after several years of struggling. Our children were denied hope and community with the lockdowns and isolation.

Make sure as part of Oregon education that reading is taught using Phonics. Where it's implemented you will see >30% improvement the first year its implemented. Phonics teaches kids the reading rules.

IF you are serious about changing education in Oregon. -Meet with ALL Administrators involved with Curriculum Development and Curriculum Adoption. Ask them when the last curriculum adoption for all core content areas in their school district was completed. Enact a transparent process to ensure teachers have the training and support needed for curriculum in core content areas. Hold districts accountable by withholding funding until they comply with solid evidence of curriculum standards in core content areas. -Create an executive order mandating standardized curriculum for all core subjects. Require school districts to submit copies and have a compliance team from ODE review the curriculum standards submitted. -Create an executive order that withholds state funding for all school districts that continue to fund a DEI Department (also includes equity, social justice, civil rights etc). These departments have subverted money from curriculum development and provide no direct support for students academic achievement.
