International relations should be played like poker. Poker is a hidden information game where you make profitable decisions given the information you have. When new information is revealed you should completely overhaul your plans and accept defeat. You should try to make +ev decisions every step of the way given what you know. Playing it like chess or go is dumb because you could make long term plans with the information you have and when new information is revealed it could all have been for nothing.

Well Russia is not that important, way below other countries in Europe. China and US are in another level. The only reason Russia is cited is because it’s trying to defeat a poor country for 3 years and has done a lot of confusion in world economy and politics.
