Farming is like establishing your own small town out there in the wild, and you have to operate & maintain it, provide all the required utility services (water, electricity, roads, security, telecommunications, sanitation, health facilities, housing, food supply, etc.)

Farming is not a holiday, people! You can’t have everyone doing the dirty work while you supervise from a distance. You have to wake up early, sleep late, get your hands dirty and actually work. It’s HARD work! That’s why you need passion for it, otherwise the farm will humble you very quickly!

Love it for her. Just gotta take a risk and drill another borehole a distance from current. Get 3-5 cows to cut the grass. Get a small gas stove for boiling water

Sheep 🐑 are good in cutting grass

@tshepom619 Sheep and cattle actually need each other. The cow is a plucker. Eats tall grasses by wrapping it around its tongue. Sheep are nibblers, they bite like we would with teeth. Goats eat branches. Sor first the goats then cows then the sheep. Deforestation strategy

@XekiHlongwane A good combination to have, and goats would be great for clearing “weeds”, for lack of a better word.

@BeltsofOrion @XekiHlongwane I like this. An exchange of information. Empowering. 👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@BeltsofOrion @XekiHlongwane True, this is what we should be signing up for- learning from each other👏🏿

Water pumping and part of electricity usage, convert to solar pumping, you will thank me later. Grass - buy few sheep, say 15-20. They will eat grass while making money and food for you. You can change grass type to lucern. Convert to high value grass that you can sell,

Why not buy sheeps to eat the grass?

- Fire to boil water (You can make your own boiler) - Always use a filtration system even after water has passed inspection - Use livestock to strategically forage and grace the land. It's a farm, not passive independence. No big deal here.

Respect to the farmers who feed us. Me personally I respect your passion for farming. And the fact that you make your crops available to us in the cities. I have zero interest in farming, I wouldn't survive a week there.

When buying property, I always ask for the last 3 months levies statement to see on average what they pay, and calculate from there

Yoh guys where did you grow up kante..these r basic challenges of farm life. There’s nothing glam here. It’s expensive, and labours. Other challenges: cellphone reception, bad smell from animals especially when it rains, travelling 2-3 hours to town to buy groceries…✋🏽

Network reception, you need network booster

Like it’s alot nje 😮💨

I love her honest reflection and her smile. Taking it on the chin, rolling with the punches. Much success to her and her family 🥂🥂🥳🥳

@Zimasabuhle Lol why she is so excited about uBhuti who is cutting the grass 😂😂🤣🙈ndiyadlala

Orange water destroyed my washing machine and filters. Cost me 200 to get one after 1st getting a ping for 120m and running out of water and calling the drill guys back. Elec I was told that I need to pay off transformer kanti it’s a permanent monthly rental easy 12-15k a month🌚

Im thinking this is a fulltime 'work', you cant have 9- 5 and still have this

Eish other problem you never mentioned or being told about is 🪦 graves there are lot graves in the farms

Hey . I am currently working on a project with small scale farmers in SA. Can anyone connect me with the lady? Thanks.

Don't start too big... If you do big then do it as a team of families. But always start small... Even if the land is big prioritise a small portion and plan long term. Unless you have millions to spare for quick setup.

Moving into a farm is not just about planting and harvesting 🌱. You need to understand the land, water supply, weather, security, market access, and the daily workload. Farm life can be rewarding, but preparation is everything. 🚜

I envy them, that's called freedom, that's what human souls need, not Dubai and Sandton.

I don’t want to mention what comes in summer … 🐍🐍🐍🐍 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫

I wouldn't trade it for anything though, I love it.

I will only ever move to a farm if I have money to afford labour. I grew up in a village. Farm life is like village life. Rough!!!

Low-key flex, I see you

Volt drop

For wayer quality issues go to the nearest filtershop. Solutions are there in the market, bit expensive but you will have peach of mind. Iron you must aerate it and filter it out of the solution

Use iron exchanging resins

What did she mean when saying "she's got a forever and not relying on salary". That wasn't a joke.

She sells Forever products

But I still love it

That 6k should habe been used to clean the borehole. There are now affordable systems to purify ground water and can be d.i.y. location and location though

Electricity? Solution- hydroelectric or solar ✅

The best decision I ever made was moving to stay in the farm

Thank you for sharing.

Let's collecting

@blackwidow_Kd come this side

She only mentioned like 2 things 🤷🏽♂️
