Illini fan here. I disliked Painter as a player but I would have been glad to have him on my team. I hated to see him get hired to replace Keady because I expected he'd do well, and he's exceeded that expectation. This quote is great - we need more valuing of parental guidance.

I never was at home on a Saturday night & thought to myself “you know would be fun? I should gather hundreds of ppl together, go downtown, block traffic, disturb ppl, steal things, fight with police & beat ppl up”.
