The Think Yoruba First organization worldwide organised a press briefing yesterday to inform the whole world about our legal battles with certain people of Igbo origins who are rewriting history and ascribing that Ile Ife belongs to the Igbos in literatures that are sold both in Nigeria and in Europe. The legal department of TYF and the leadership of TYF hereby will be embarking on a long and arduous journey to make legal examples of this mischievous elements. We thank all Yoruba people for their support.

Adeniji, launched a fiery attack on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for snubbing the event. She revealed that an invitation was sent to the governor, but for the second time, no representative from his office bothered to show up. She made it clear that Think Yoruba First is not lobbying for contracts or seeking favours. This is about the future of Yoruba land. "We are not playing. Nobody is lobbying for contracts. When discussing Yoruba history with the ThinkYorubaFirst or Yoruba Nesan guys, one of the things I came across is the cognitive dissonance in being receptive of the fact that one's ancestors may have committed terrible acts. They accept that Oyo collected tributes from several towns. They accept that Oyo sacked towns that refused to bow to its will. They accept that Oyo sold people into slavery. What they don't accept is that, Oyo which did all these could at one point have persecuted its Muslims, even when Lander and co who were in Oyo in 1825/1826 reported they were told Muslim preaching (before the Afonja/Hausa revolt) increased to such a level, in Oyo that traditional worshippers caused the King to slaughter some of them. And several Muslims in Oyo were being sold into slavery, even when there was an initial standing order about Abaja tribal mark bearers to not be sold. Some have even dispelled the notion of a "Male Rebellion" in its entirety, even when it's a recognised Brazilian event. To these folks, Because Nigeria is accommodating, we must deliberately dispel the fact, that the same country once did "Ghana-Must-Go". There are several families of Oyo descent, now resident in Ilorin, who fled religious persecution, and yet some will seek to argue endlessly. The Yoruba Purists gleefully say they speak Oyo dialect of Yoruba, insist their Pamu-Pamu dance is from Yoruba, their Kengbe songs is derived from Oyo, but don't agree they were persecuted. Why bother to establish "Oke-Sunna" as a Muslim settlement, in the first place if they were so free during that decade. Anyways, the point is simple, all those who revolted had an axe to grind with Oyo. Afonja who had an axe to grind because he was sent on a suicide mission to Iwere-Ile. Persecuted Oyo Muslims, who were being killed and sold to slavery. Sabaruma Hausa slaves on whose backs Oyo's Calvary standing depended upon as they loved servile lives. Oyo provincial warriors who chose to seek independence away from Oyo and who stopped sending tribute. Ooo, Add up the Egbas before 1780,under Lisabi Agbongbo Akala. Add up the Baribas (Kaiama) in 1783. Add up the Nupes, in 1791. Add up the Dahomey (King Gezo) around 1823, that gained independence from Oyo and refused to send anymore tributaries. Here is a foreign take about the Male Rebellion of January 1835 (Ramadan Rebellion) led by Yoruba Muslim slaves. The Male Rebellion was not called "ANAGO" which would have implied every single Yoruba irrespective of religion. They were emphatic it had a religious character, and Brazilian Museums still hold the artifacts of those Muslim slaves.

Dear Mimi, History didn't begin in 2023, and it certainly didn't begin the day you opened an X account. Before turning every ceremonial outfit into a political conspiracy, take a little trip through Nigeria's sporting history. Long before President Tinubu became president and long before many of today's social media commentators were paying attention Team Nigeria proudly wore traditional Nigerian-inspired attire at major international events. Let's refresh your memory: Atlanta Olympics (1996) – Traditional ceremonial outfits. Sydney 2000 Athens 2004 Beijing 2008 London 2012 Rio 2016 Tokyo 2020 Several Commonwealth Games Multiple All Africa Games Traditional fabrics, agbada, aso-oke, wrappers, caps, and other indigenous ceremonial wear have been part of Nigeria's identity on the world stage for decades. So no, Nigeria wasn't suddenly renamed the "Federal Republic of Yoruba." If you don't like this year's design, that's your opinion. But rewriting history to score partisan points only exposes a lack of historical knowledge. Not every outfit is propaganda. Not every event revolves around Tinubu.
