It’s crazy to see how much the game has changed in under 15 years. JV started the 8th inning with over 100 pitches, the bullpen only BEGINS to warm after Parra doubles, and his total pitch count that night (119) wasn’t even his season high to date! (132) What a damn workhorse.

Also -- check out this run by 2011 JV from the end of May into mid-July. 9 G 72.0 IP 46 H 6 ER 0.75 ERA (!!!) 74 K / 10 BB The man was just built different.
