Chat: What advice would you give to make a long-distance relationship work? Zeudi: Let’s talk about it. You all need to know—though I think you already do—that I’ve never believed in long-distance relationships. My fault, I admit it. I’ve never believed in them, so imagine at the beginning of my relationship with Scarlett. Far be it from me—I used to say, ‘Impossible.’ After being single for three years, I thought, ‘Yeah right, like you’re going to get with a girl who lives on the other side of the world.’ Okay, not exactly the other side of the world—it’s about a two-and-a-half-hour flight—but still, there’s distance. But lesbians are kind of like that, for the most part. So I said, ‘I don’t know about long-distance relationships.’ I thought, ‘There will be so many doubts, so many issues.’ But I can assure you that distance doesn’t matter as much as you think. It’s paradoxical for me to say this now, because when I wasn’t in it, I couldn’t understand it. Then I realized: ‘Actually, it’s not the distance that gives you insecurities. If anything, any insecurities come from the person you’re with.’ And fortunately, I don’t have that discomfort, because I feel really good with Scarlett. In fact, I think she has given me more reassurance than anyone I’ve been with in my previous relationships—and this is still a long-distance relationship. In fact, these days I was thinking about it. I was like, ‘How is it possible that this girl manages to make me feel calm even though we’re four hours apart between flights, cars, and everything else?’ Why? Because we communicate, we talk, we get to know each other better—even while speaking two different languages. It’s paradoxical, but it’s true. So we found each other, obviously—but not all long-distance relationships will be like this, not because they’re long-distance, but because they’re relationships. You never know what can happen in a relationship, or how much the other person will reassure you—or not. I didn’t believe in long-distance relationships. Of course, everything has its own timing, so you need to know how to wait. But I’ll be honest—I didn’t believe in them. Yes, I’m in love. Guys, I’ll repeat this: being in love and love itself are two completely different and separate things. Love takes time. But yes, I’m deeply in love. I feel amazing with Scarlett, and the sense of security she gives me—again—no one else has ever given me that. That’s also why I made the relationship public. Because sooner or later it would have come out anyway, given that I’m somewhat of a public figure now—even if only a little. But also because she gives me security, and I like sharing something beautiful that happened to me—namely, having a wonderful person like Scarlett in my life. But she’ll never hear any of this anyway, because I’m speaking in Italian—so that’s even better, because she doesn’t need to know anything. ❤️❤️

⚡️ My Munich speech: Our Disinfolklore Universe ~ Battling Archetypes It’s appropriate to be speaking about our Disinfolklore Universe at a Pirate Party Munich Security conference event. Those who founded the Pirate Party get what I am about to speak to you about. There’s a flow between on the one hand culture, art, films, literature about pirates and geopolitical security. Those whom we entrust with securing our conditions of civilised life don’t seem to understand this. This is partly why they’re such easy marks for Russian and MAGA Disinfolklore. They get wrapped up so easily in Russian or MAGA trolls, like flies in a spider's web, it’s very hard for them even to understand they’re trapped inside Old Thinking. Today I’m going to offer a perspective on what I call our Disinfolklore Universe. And I’m also going to offer a means to escape the troll memes wrap us up inside when we fall for MAGA or Russian Disinfolklore. None of this is easy. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have all the answers. Whenever you hear anyone talk about Disinformation or Disinfolklore as if it happens to other people. As if only stupid people fall for trolls. Whenever you hear chatter like that, be certain those people are easy marks for trolls. For MAGA and Russian Disinfolklore. Today we live in a true Disinfolklore Universe. The fabric of every dimension of our lives - work, personal relationships, life choices, fates - is infused with aspects of Druidey Don and Duncey Putin’s memetic onslaught. Our Moods/Motivations/Intentions/Attitudes are being formed by what I call ‘Disinfolklore.’ Directly – through whichever media memes we consume. Or indirectly, through our own minds and those of others, influencing us from archetypes created and evolving from Disinfolklore. Batman and Robin are running America – you saw Elmo, Druidey Don, and the kid in the White House the other day?

Today we get to share something really special, Clark got his Make-A-Wish! 💙 When we first started thinking about what his wish could be, we tossed around all kinds of ideas. We thought about taking him to Disney. We thought about a hot tub. We talked about all the big, exciting things that a Make-A-Wish could make possible. But ultimately, we realized that the thing that would make the biggest difference in Clark’s everyday life that he could enjoy for a long time wasn’t a vacation or something we could enjoy for a week or two. It was freedom. Clark absolutely loves being outside. He loves running, exploring, playing, and just being able to enjoy the outdoors. But Sanfilippo has made something as simple as letting him play in the backyard incredibly difficult. Children with Sanfilippo are high risk for eloping. Because of his elopement, he can take off in an instant and quickly end up in a neighbor’s yard, near the road, or somewhere we can’t safely let him go. So for his wish, we decided to fence in our backyard. To some people, a fence might not sound like the traditional “wish” you imagine when you think of Make-A-Wish. But for Clark, it means so much more than a fence. It means being able to open the back door and let him run. It means letting him explore and play without us having to constantly chase after him. It means giving him a little more autonomy and independence in a world where Sanfilippo has already taken so much of that away. And most importantly, it means we can watch him play freely while knowing that he is safe. That’s what made this the perfect wish for our boy. 💜 We are incredibly grateful to Make-A-Wish and for understanding that sometimes a wish isn’t about one extraordinary day. Sometimes it’s about making every ordinary day a little more extraordinary. Also, a huge thank you to Simtech Outdoor Solutions & Landscape Supplies for doing such a wonderful job!

Is it still daddy? Many of you have shared videos with me recently, depicting young children’s reactions to dramatic changes in their parents’ appearances. Especially in cases where fathers are heavily bearded - then unexpectedly reveal clean shaven faces (which their toddlers may literally never have seen) - the reaction is often one of dismay…which is why I’m typically reluctant to share them. This video - which isn’t nearly as startling - does a nice job of illustrating the child’s perspective here. This father had only a mustache. But you’ll note his son’s apprehensive reaction to its removal. Intellectually he recognizes what’s happened, asking whether Dad has shaved his mustache. But it’s clear that emotionally, he finds the episode a little jarring… even going so far as to ask if “it’s still daddy?” - which is really the crux of the matter in all these videos. Your face is particularly precious to your child. Beginning in infancy, it is a favorite sight. A source of both comfort and learning. And your distinguishing features are part of what make it so familiar to your child. So it’s no surprise that sudden changes in appearance can leave little ones feeling uncertain. This doesn’t mean that you can’t change your facial hair or hairstyle as a parent. But there are definitely more and less sensitive ways to do so. The wrong way, for sure (as seen in many other videos) is to shave a full beard without warning, to cover one’s face with a cloth, and then have a toddler remove it only to reveal that they are being held by (from their perspective) an unfamiliar adult they believed to be their parent. Talk about stranger danger. This dad handles the situation with considerably more tact and with a little older child, but even here there is little question our hero is apprehensive about the change. He’ll adjust quickly… but it’s still an adjustment. How might such a change be undertaken with the greatest sensitivity? First, involve your child in conversation on the front end, over a period of days. Explain why you are considering such a change (it’s hot and itchy, for example) and consider making it gradually, perhaps over the course of a weekend. A thick bushy beard might begin with a significant trim, allowing your child to acclimate in stages to your changing appearance. Better yet, involve your child in the stages of the trimming itself. The end result may still be a little jarring at first, but you’ll be surprised how much a little foreknowledge, involvement, and sense of ownership on may make a difference in their reaction. How have you handled such appearance changes in your home? Any additional tips to share? This clean shaven dad was shared to IG by therealprofessorx.

040826 | #CHANYEOL IG LIVE “ Wait, no one’s doing a live for anniversary? The members aren’t doing it? That’s kind of disappointing… Anyway, we’ve reached our 14th debut anniversary now. Wow 14 years. It sounds like just a number, but it feels really strange. First of all, I want to say thank you so much for loving us so consistently over these 14 years. Honestly, rather than us being the ones receiving congratulations, I feel like I want to congratulate you instead. Congratulations! It’s been 14 years, it’s our 14th anniversary! And these days, well, not the day after tomorrow, but in three days . . . wait, actually it is the day after tomorrow, right? The concert starts the day after tomorrow. Today we even went somewhere far and rented a really big hall to rehearse the stage movements. We practiced a lot together today, sang a lot too. Yesterday, the day before yesterday, we’ve just been stuck together, practicing nonstop. So I hope you’re really looking forward to this concert too, and once again, happy 14th anniversary. I think it’s going to be really fun. The members have been dropping spoilers and stuff, but for me . . . it’s really because you’ve been there for us that we were able to reach this 14th anniversary. It feels kind of amazing. Over these 14 years of promoting, meeting you all like this and while preparing for this concert, I’ve been thinking a lot about the past. Honestly, preparing for this concert feels the same as when we did one 10 years ago, so even the process and the members, it all feels kind of strange and surreal. But anyway, we’re having so much fun preparing, so I hope you’ll come watch the show soon. We have practice again tomorrow, and rehearsals too. Thank you. We’ll keep working harder and enjoying what we do, and I hope we can keep meeting for a long, long time. Also, the weather suddenly got colder it’s been raining a lot, so it cooled down. Looking at this week, the first day might be a bit chilly and since the first show is in the evening, a late-night performance, I hope you’ll dress warmly. But there’s something I need to tell you . . . since it’s still April, there won’t be air conditioning in the concert venue. I guess it’s some kind of system rule. But once the venue fills up and the performance starts, it’ll get really hot inside, so wear something light underneath and bring a jacket you can take off. If you layer too much like wearing thick sweaters it might actually feel really hot since there’s no AC. That’s a little pro tip. I’ll get going now since we have practice again tomorrow. ‘ Chancon heater incident? ‘ What was that? Can someone tell me? The heater incident? Did something like that happen at my concert? I’m curious. Wait, was it really hot back then? Did I tell them to turn the heater off or something? Take good care of your health, everyone. I mean, not just us, you all need to manage your stamina well too if you’re coming to the concert. So eat lots of good food, and we’ll see you at the concert. I’ll try to come back again if I can when we practice with the members tomorrow. Bye for now. Good night. Congratulations! and congrats to the members too. Bye~ ” #찬열 #엑소 #EXO

Namjoon about Swim💜 🐨: Next is “Swim,” and honestly, I really love this song. I think a lot of people were probably disappointed by it. Like, it’s not exciting in the way “Dynamite” was, and it’s not an intense hip-hop performance track like “Hooligan” or “2.0,” so some people probably thought, “Why did they release such a subdued, low-energy song?” 🐨: But the reality is simple: No better song than “Swim” came out. We never originally intended for “Swim” to be the title track. But we had to think about radio play too, whether the song would have longevity, versatility, and lasting appeal. And in the end, “Swim” was the only song that checked all those boxes. 🐨: Honestly, I think title tracks themselves barely mean anything anymore these days. There’s more of a “lead single” concept now. Especially in American pop music, there really isn’t this rigid “title track” idea anymore. 🐨: So what made me really happy after “Arirang” came out was that it wasn’t just “Swim” getting attention. Of course Jungkook charting happened and ARMY worked incredibly hard streaming and supporting, but I also loved seeing “Body to Body” becoming a hot topic “Hooligan” getting talked about, “2.0” getting attention, even “Normal” being discussed. For an idol group album, it’s honestly really hard for so many tracks from the same album to all get talked about and chart simultaneously. 🐨: Maybe “Swim” felt less sonically stimulating compared to the others, but I was still so happy that the album as a whole was getting that much discussion and love. 🐨: Writing the lyrics for “Swim” took a really long time. And honestly, it feels sad to say this in 2026, but I wanted this to become a meaningful song too. Since it became the title track — because no stronger radio song than “Swim” came out — I wanted it to carry meaning. 🐨: The truth is, I’m actually not very good at swimming. But I think I started seeing life itself as swimming. Even during military service, counting down days one by one… waiting, wandering, just swimming forward through each day, one breath at a time. That’s why this song feels really sad to me. To me, it feels like the song of BTS in their thirties: becoming more mature, building deeper rapport with fans, living more adult lives, each person carrying their own life forward. 🐨: So lyrically and emotionally, this song means a lot to me personally. Of course, maybe it would’ve been nice if there had been an even better title track. But I think this is the kind of song that will stay with me for a very long time. Honestly, I wish it received even more love. 🐨: Of course, performance is such an important part of who we are, and BTS grew from intense hip-hop sounds and powerful performances, so I understand why some people might find “Swim” underwhelming. 🐨: But for me… “Swim” is the kind of song I’d want to hear at my own grave someday. It sounds like a love song, but it’s also about life itself. I wanted it to feel open enough to be interpreted both ways. Looking at “you” beneath the moon and the sharks — that “you” could be someone I love, the fans, myself, or even my own life. 🐨: I think it’s a very rare song that contains all kinds of emotions together, joy, anger, sorrow, happiness. So yeah… that’s what “Swim” is to me. Personally, I just wish more people would love it a little more. And honestly, after finishing this album, I think I came to a sad conclusion: people don’t really listen to lyrics anymore. So if anyone hears what I’m saying now, I hope they’ll go back and look a little more deeply at what we were trying to say through this album. That’s my personal wish. 🐨: I still have a lot more I want to say about “Swim,” and I think I’ll probably keep talking about it in the future too. But anyway, I really love this song. I also really loved the “Keep Swimming” campaign. Because honestly, life isn’t all that extraordinary. There are happy days, sad days… and all of us are just swimming forward one day at a time.

A Korean tech professional (non-fan) based in Silicon Valley with a strong interest in the humanities attended a BTS concert for the very first time at Stanford Day 1. After the concert, he singled out Taehyung’s ending ment as particularly memorable, praising the way Taehyung spoke about the local community. He remarked that comments which genuinely celebrate and appreciate a place’s culture, environment, and the things its residents take pride in come across as deeply flattering to locals and leave a very positive impression. ——————————————- 👤 Day 1 — Let’s learn some master-level social graces from BTS. (What I heard was basically:) “Can I move here and do what you guys do too?” “It’s my first time in Stanford, but wow, the pizza was seriously so good?! I think the pizza here is the absolute best!” → As a local, it’s honestly such a relief and feels really nice to hear that someone came to our town, enjoyed the food, and had a good time. “And I heard Stanford is also famous for its university. Is anyone here attending Stanford University? Do you think I could go to Stanford too?” → Even to someone like me who doesn’t know them much, there seemed to be quite a few people from the university and academia in the audience. Whether he genuinely envies a path he never got to take, or whether he was simply saying it to make people feel good, saying ‘I’m jealous of you’ and ‘Can I come here too?’ is an ultimate compliment to the people listening. “It’s my first time here, but this place is seriously so hot!!” BTS’s performance was amazing too, and seeing them in person, their charm was overflowing even more… I liked them even more because they all spoke so beautifully as well. ———————— (Taehyung’s kind and thoughtful ending ment seems to have left him with an even warmer impression of BTS. Just for context, he’s a local and a non-fan, so I hope his words aren’t misread or taken out of context. ☺️🙏) #뷔 #태형 #BTSV (🎥 cr @/v1230mp4)

One year. One whole year already. And yet, I still can’t believe it. I still have this strange feeling that none of this is real. It’s like I’m trapped in a nightmare I can’t wake up from. As if, at any moment, you’ll show up again — with your smile, your laugh, your voice that feels so familiar. But time keeps moving, and with every day that passes without you, this absence becomes a little more real. A little harder to bear. The truth is, it’s been a year since you left. And the world has felt a little quieter ever since. You know, Liam, there’s not a single day that goes by without us thinking of you. You left such a huge mark on our lives, on our hearts — far beyond the music. Because you weren’t just an incredible artist. You were a bright soul — genuine, kind, generous, always there for everyone else. You had that rare gift of understanding people, of comforting them, of giving strength even when you barely had any left for yourself. That’s what made you so special, Liam. You brought light just by being you. And that’s why everything about you is missed so deeply. Everything you left behind still lives on today. Your songs, your words, your smile, every memory you gave us. You’re everywhere — in our thoughts, in every melody, in every laugh we share when we remember you. We keep celebrating you, talking about you, keeping you alive through everything you built. I think a lot about your family — Your dad, your mum, your sisters, your son, your loved ones — those who knew and loved you long before the world did. Losing someone so suddenly is unimaginable. I can only imagine how hard it must still be, even after a year, to try and move forward without you. I’m sending them all my love, all my support. Because you were their son, their brother, their light. And I know your absence must still feel like an unfillable space. I also think about your friends, and about those who were more than that — the boys, your brothers. Because One Direction wasn’t just a band. It was a family. You grew up together, laughed, created, shared memories no one else will ever truly understand. Nothing will ever erase that bond. And I know they carry that pain too. And then there’s us. Us, the fans — the ones you made smile, dream, grow. We still remember your words, your laughter, your energy. We haven’t forgotten you, Liam. We never will. You live through us — through your music, your laughter, your heart. You are a part of us, and you always will be. I just hope that where you are now, you’re not hurting anymore. That you’ve finally found the peace you always deserved. So if I could talk to you today, I’d simply say: Thank you, Liam. Thank you for existing. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for being who you were. Thank you for everything you gave us. We miss you more than words can ever say. A little more every single day. But you still live on — through everything you were, everything you created, everything you left behind. You’ll always be there, somewhere — in every note, in every smile, in every heartbeat that still thinks of you. We’ll never forget you. Forever ✨🤍🕊️

I’ve been able to walk again! For those who didn’t know, for the past 6-8 months, I basically couldn’t walk bc of a freak accident I had at the beach while catching crabs with my kids. And when I say I couldn’t walk, I mean I literally couldn’t walk. I spent most of my days lying on the floor staring at the ceiling or crawling around my house. Going to the bathroom was basically impossible. I had to pee in bottles while lying down. I ate on the floor. I couldn’t cook for my kids. I couldn’t leave the house. I couldn’t even walk outside to my own balcony to get sun. I was basically trapped on the second floor of my home. I couldn’t go upstairs to sleep with my kids. I couldn’t go downstairs to leave the house. I couldn’t drop them off at school. I couldn’t play basketball with them. I couldn’t run around with them, ride bikes with them, take them places, or do any of the simple things I had done a thousand times without ever thinking twice about them. It was really bad… mentally and physically. I still remember one moment so clearly. I was looking out the window from the second floor, watching my kids ride their bikes outside. I just sat there in tears thinking to myself… Wow. I can’t even leave my house to be out there with them. That broke me. I kept asking, “Why me? Why did this happen to me?” Now I think I understand. God humbled me. I was moving too fast through life. Always doing more. Always chasing the next goal. Always working. And I was sacrificing my body and my health for what? I already had EVERYTHING I had ever dreamed of. I had the $ money. I had the freedom. I had the family. I had the life I worked so hard to build. But suddenly, none of it mattered bc I couldn’t even get off the floor. Feeling that at 37 years old was one of the most demoralizing things I’ve ever experienced as a man and as a father. Not being able to race with your kids. Not being able to play basketball with them. Not being able to drive them to school. Not being able to chase them around the house, take them on adventures, pick them up when they fall, carry them when they’re tired, or simply be the active dad you always thought you would be. There’s nothing worse than wanting to be there for your family physically and realizing your body won’t let you. So now, I take my health seriously. I don’t skip days anymore. Even if it’s something small, I do something every day to make my body stronger and healthier. Bc I finally understand what people mean when they say: There is no wealth without health. You can have millions of $ dollars. You can own the house, the cars, the stocks, the businesses, and everything else you ever dreamed about. But if you can’t get off the floor to hug your kids, play with them, travel with your family, or simply walk outside and feel the sun on your face… What’s is the point? $ money means very little when your health is gone. For all of my life, I worked so hard to become financially free. Now I’m working just as hard to become physically strong. And now, here I am at a beautiful natural hot spring with my family. There are two walking paths side by side. One hot. One cold. Both filled with natural stones under your bare feet. I walk back and forth between them, slowly stepping over the stones and alternating between the hot and cold water. The uneven stones challenge my feet and balance, while the temperature change wakes up my body and make every step feel alive. And the whole time I’m walking, I can’t stop thinking about how crazy life is. Six months ago, I was lying on the floor of my home wondering when I would be able to walk again. Today, I’m walking barefoot over natural stones, through hot and cold water, surrounded by nature with my family. Something I probably wouldn’t have even appreciated before. Now, every step means something. Every step reminds me of what I almost lost. It took losing my health to finally understand what being wealthy truly means.

Most guys do not realize how dirty, naughty, and sexual women are. The average woman is way dirtier than the average man. I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman who wasn’t turned on by public sex, for example. Very few men are as into it as women are. As a guy, when you’re about to get it on with a girl in public, she’s there moaning, telling you to “put it in”; meanwhile you are looking around to check if anyone else is nearby while positioning her in this uncomfortable public position in the dirt, in the cold, and telling her “all right, hold on, I’m working on it, let me just get it up here, give me a second, sheesh!” If you read a woman’s romance novel, there is so much ink spilled on teasing, build up, this sex act, that sex act, the other sex act, that it’s basically unreadable if you are a guy. As a guy, you just wanna get your hot dog in her hot dog bun. But women want to do all KINDS of stuff. There’s a million things sexually these girls want to do. So why aren’t girls jumping at the chance to go to bed with every guy they meet? ✅ She needs to TRUST a guy first. Trust that she is safe with him. Trust that he will not judge her. Trust that it won’t affect her reputation. Many men aren’t good at building trust. Trust is KEY. ✅ She needs some degree of attraction to the guy. Not NEARLY as much as most guys think. She does NOT need to be wild with desire for you to sleep with you. It is even possible to sleep with women who really are not attracted to you at all, but who are just bored (and horny) and you did the moves right. (Or, bonus round, you just offered her an experience she has always fantasized about, so even if you are not her dream guy, she nevertheless says fine, let’s do it.) ✅ She needs to be aroused. You know the whole “women’s arousal is like a dimmer” thing… it’s accurate. You need to ramp her arousal up with touch, teasing, flirtation, innuendo, sex talk, etc. ✅ She needs to be ALONE with you. If she trusts you enough, you can get her alone with you. Once she’s alone with you, if there is trust there, and there’s arousal, and maybe a bit of attraction, you will get her clothes off. Yes… even if she is a ‘good’ girl. ‘Good’ girls did not manage to pass down their genes by hating sex (they are just a bit more selective about the men they have it with, is all. They need more TRUST!). Also: don’t be UNNERVED by female sexuality. Every girl has a tigress inside her waiting for the right guy to unleash it… a guy who makes her trust him, arouses her, gets her alone with him, and maybe creates some attraction with her. Women’s romance novels are ALL about this. Women’s romances in real life are as well. In fact, in real life, women often settle for far less ideal situations: men they don’t completely trust, aren’t that attracted to, are only partway aroused by, who get them alone somewhere. The better a job you can do approaching her sexual “Platonic ideal”, the more reliably you can bring out that sexual tigress lurking inside of EVERY woman (even the ‘good’ girls).

Precision meets poetry — that's how I describe the writing of Ava. She's grown her newsletter audience to more than 24,000 people and just laid out her writing process in extreme detail. Here's what she's taught me about writing well: 1. If someone’s much better than you at something they probably try much harder. 2. Personal anecdotes breathe life into your writing. First-hand experience gives you credibility as a writer and doubles as a wellspring for some of your deepest wisdom. 3. Writing is an altered state of consciousness, analogous to being drunk or deep in a meditative state. 4. Good personal writing describes the core truths of the human experience while avoiding self-help jargon. 5. When you write from life and not theory, you will be most able to create something that feels unpolluted by all the ideas you’ve consumed. 6. Writing is a tool to reach beyond consensus. Write and write and write until you transcend the cliches and step into undiscovered territory. 7. Writing is also a tool for knowing, shaping, and owning your story. Ava says: “Instead of relying on someone else to narrativize my life or offer an observation about me, I use writing as a way to assert my own narrative. It’s how I remain more subject than object, how I maintain conviction in my own agency.” 8. Creativity is inherently anti-authoritarian. As in: to be successfully creative, you have to shed the part of yourself that desperately wants reassurance. It’s only then that you can escape cliche and escape paradigmatic thinking. 9. Chase what feels valuable to you, even if doing so leads to eye-rolling reactions. Ava was told by her parents to pursue programming because “liberal arts is worthless,” only to hear tech bros say that writing is the most valuable skill in the world. 10. Writing is the creative residue of all the background rumination you do as you go through life (such as sitting in friends' living rooms, taking your dog to the park, getting dehydrated during a hike). 11. How Ava thinks about writing in public: Weigh the importance of feeling safe with the importance of being known. 12. Ava on how writing is sometimes not an act, but a state of being: “I’m trying to think of writing less as doing and more as being. A passive state, almost: a way of existing in the world. Something that takes me away from myself, and in doing so draws me deeper inwards.” This is a masterclass in writing from the heart — expressing emotions, creating a sense of intimacy in your writing, and bringing your soul onto the page. They Seriously Expected Parades And Trophies For Pausing A Genocide I’ve seen a lot of empire loyalists going “Why aren’t the Free Palestine people cheering about the ceasefire?” If you saw a man beating a child into a coma, would you cheer after the beating stopped? No, your first reaction would be horror at what happened and your second would be fear that he’ll attack the kid again. And then at some point you’d start wondering why the guy isn’t in jail. They actually expected a bunch of parades and trophies for pausing a genocide. They thought they’d get applause and adoration and then everything would go back to how it was pre-2023. That’s adorable. That’s precious. Not gonna happen, but it’s cute that they thought it would. ❖ Drop Site News reports that after the ceasefire was announced Israeli troops went on an arson spree and torched food, homes and critical infrastructure to ensure that Palestinians would have nothing to return to. I keep thinking the Israeli military has run out of ways to shock me, but they somehow keep finding new ones. ❖ TYT’s Ana Kasparian was in hot water last week for rubbing her hands together while talking about how creepy and evil Jewish oligarch Larry Ellison is, with critics hastening to compare her depiction of Ellison to the antisemitic “Happy Merchant” meme. Online Zionists eager to stoke the antisemitism hysteria actually went out of their way to digitally insert the Happy Merchant meme into the actual footage of Kasparian’s portrayal, which was probably done to show the similarities between the portrayal and the meme but in practice made it look as though TYT had displayed an antisemitic graphic during their show. There is no reason to believe Kasparian was being antisemitic with her portrayal of Ellison, who is indeed creepy and evil. Ask a small child to imitate someone who is wicked and sneaky and they’ll rub their hands together looking sinister in the exact way Kasparian did without knowing anything about Jews or Judaism. The only reason anyone felt the need to insert the Happy Merchant meme into the footage in the first place was because hardly anyone knows what the fuck that is. This has gotten so fucking stupid. You can’t even talk like a normal person in real time without getting accused of doing an antisemitic trope. Nobody can keep track of every little thing on the ADL no-no list. These freaks were accusing Greta Thunberg of being a Nazi for taking a pro-Palestine photo with an octopus plushie, because apparently octopuses are somewhere on the no-no list. You’re expected to tip toe around and avoid any reference to money, noses, blood, and who knows whatever the fuck else. Penguins? Poodles? IKEA furniture? No one knows. Nobody can keep track of all that shit, especially when speaking in a real-time format and you don’t have time to pause and research whether a certain normal hand gesture is on the antisemitic trope list. It’s an absurd dynamic designed to stagnate all conversation around criticisms of genocide, empire, and oligarchy. ❖ I got into an interaction with someone online who told me I should hate Hamas because they are a proscribed terrorist group. I said “Oh well if the GOVERNMENT says we have to hate Hamas then I stand corrected.” He said it had nothing to do with the government, arguing that it was just “common sense,” after literally just having cited the proscription of Hamas by his government. It’s amazing how common this viewpoint is. Westerners actually think “terrorist” is some kind of innate quality that certain groups have, instead of a completely made-up designation imposed by specific governments. They don’t understand that it’s a government-applied label; they think it’s something that those groups actually ARE. They’re so herd-like in their thinking that they actually allow their rulers to interpret reality on their behalf. And they don’t even know they’re doing it. The overwhelming majority of the world’s governments do not consider Hamas a terrorist group. It’s a label that’s only applied by the Five Eyes states, the EU, Japan, a couple of the empire’s Latin American client states, and Israel. For everyone else it’s just a Palestinian armed resistance group. In the US-centralized empire, “terrorist” just means “a population which poses an inconvenience to the interests of the empire”. It’s not a real thing. The UK designated Palestine Action a terrorist group because its activists put paint on some war planes to protest a genocide, while an actual, literal Al Qaeda leader has been warmly embraced by western states because he facilitated their regime change objectives in Syria. There are no consistent standards by which Iran’s IRGC should be considered a terrorist group while Israel’s IDF and Mossad should not. Anyone who regurgitates the word “terrorist” is just telling you they’re a mindless and compliant empire drone. ❖ The Gaza holocaust will be a litmus test for high-profile figures for decades. Everyone’s comments or lack thereof on Israel’s genocidal atrocities will be looked up and amplified whenever their name rises to public attention. It will be the first step in determining whether anyone deserves to be listened to, taken seriously, or voted for. Their comments on Gaza in the mid-2020s will be the first gate through which they must pass to be considered worthy of attention by normal people. ❖ Someone asked me, “Why do you care so much about Palestine?” I told them ultimately it’s not even especially about Palestine. I care about humanity. I don’t want my kids and grandkids living in the kind of world that would watch civilians get ripped to shreds in full view of the entire planet with the support of my government and its allies. I think that’s pretty reasonable. ❖ Reading by Tim Foley:
