A story I’d like to share and hope you “play” the end: Back in the 1960s my dad was the lead singer of a band named “Johnny and the Fires” (he was Johnny). They mostly played in Buffalo and surrounding-area nightclubs and also got some play on local radio. They made a record (78 RPM) of their “hit” song “Stop, Look, and Listen!” It was actually recorded at 24 Northampton Street in Buffalo. I know because it’s printed on the record (you’ll see later). That’s across the street from the Delta Sonic and old post office on Main Street, near the NFTA station. Apparently there was a music studio there?! I have no idea. At my high school graduation party, we had a live band. My brother was the drummer (you may already know I also play the drums). They learned Stop, Look, and Listen and my father went up and sang it with them. My dad died two years later of a heart attack, at 48 years old. In 2011, I moved back to Buffalo to work at WGR. A couple years later, I got a Facebook message from a guy who said he recognized my name (and voice!) and wondered if I was John Capaccio‘s son, because he played saxophone with him in the band Johnny and the Fires. We connected. His name is Sam Guarino and he is in the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame (inducted in 2011)! Amazing. 🤯 Sam and I became friends. He told me about the other band members. One was the drummer, Vito Camilleri, who (at the time) owned Vito’s Cut and Style on Hertel Ave. I went into visit Vito one time to say hello. I’ve also connected recently with one of their guitarists, Salvatore Sciolino, who told me “your dad and me got into a lot of trouble together.” (Not a surprise to me! 😂) Sam had Stop, Look, and Listen converted into a CD. I then recorded it into an MP4. I wanted to share it for all of them and you to hear. Sam has been trying to help me figure out some of the lyrics since they are a little tough to make out. But that’s part of the fun, too! Here it is. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 🎙️⏯️

#MusicMonday: Led Zeppelin I’ve been asked to share a bit more about my experiences with Led Zeppelin. I first met Jimmy page in 1967 when I was with The Guess Who and he was with The New Yardbirds at The Cleveland Art Institute. Both bands shared a dressing room. He asked if he could play my Rickenbacker and I said yes, if I could play his Telecaster. This week in 1968, as an official band, Led Zeppelin played their first ever Canadian show at The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Their North American tour in ’68-’69 exploded their popularity in the US and Canada. In 1969, The Guess Who played The Seattle pop festival in Woodinville, WA. We ended up playing the same venues as Led Zep several times. After our band played, we’d go to the back of the crowd and watch the other acts. At one of the festivals, which were always in fields with generators, the main generator went out. Only one little amp was working. It had Robert Plant’s harmonica mic in it and the rest of the PA system was down. John Bonham kept drumming and Plant sang into this little mic and played harmonica for about 40 minutes until the power came on. I was amazed. They were just great! We crossed paths many times over the next few decades, playing the same circuits. It was a memorable moment for me as a musician when Robert Plant told me how much he loved “American Woman”. Decades later at Sweden Rock where I played with Fred Turner, I was able to give Jimmy an original poster from Seattle Pop I had saved from '69 and send one to Robert Plant as well. Last week, we said goodbye to our beautiful Nisha. She came to us as a rescue, after being found as a stray, and became a deeply loved part of our family, and part of the music too, appearing quietly in so many of the cottage videos. Thank you to everyone who noticed her, asked about her, and loved her from afar. The music in the video is called “Nisha”, it's a melody we used to sing it to her at home during Covid lockdown, and I later recorded it on my album Solace. She was deeply loved. We miss her so much

This is actually one of my best songs from Pengaudzoke because I once walked 50km from Masvingo to Nerupiri at night in the rain. I was coming from a funeral kwaChivi and had my O level Shona exam the following morning. The one ZUPCO I was waiting for failed to pitch. Waited until around 6pm, then Mr Vuta who was also my Geo teacher suggested we walk from Rujeko to the Nerupiri turnoff and hitch hike. We got to the turn off and waited for a few , then we decided to walk along the road hoping for something on the way. We were about 6, the other fellows were going mana Masvingise & Rupiri. Nothing came along. We kept walking and it started raining. We reached Pokoteke river around 2am and it had rained bad & the river was about to overflow. To make matters worse, we had taken a short cut. Nobody knew how deep that part of the river was. We didn't even know if there were crocodiles. It was dark and scary but we managed. We reached Nerupiri around 4am. I was drenched and tired. Every piece of my body was aching. My ankles were swollen. 8am I was at school. That is why that A in Shona is the most important of them all. Life....

Because, and it makes sense, a lot of people don't realize this, and I didn't even like think about it this way like, their names are not on the movies. Like, and they feel like they've really contributed to them, and sometimes spent years of their lives working on these things. But if you work at the studio, you don't get your name in the actual credits of the movie. And unless someone like Googles who was the head of the studio during the years that movie came out, no one would ever know you had anything to do with it. The recent unjust attacks on Candace Candace Owens for supporting her friend caused us to peruse and re visit our own text archive. And among other interesting things (that we may share later). We found this. A never before seen (other than by them), fun clip that we made for Charlie and Candace to welcome them to the UK. So we share it with you their friends now. This video was recorded on Dec 6th 2018 Think of it as a positive message in a bottle on the sea of eternity. We think is so important that you perceive the energy and excitement that they generated that caused the expansion that they created together. You can sense their igniting the purpose of Freedom and the life energy that they brought to bear. When Charlie and Candace came to England to connect up with all the positive energy and conceptual and philosophical alignment that they did connect to here in the UK the tremendous anticipation and atmosphere was palpable. We all felt, and knew really, that something great and miraculous was going to happen. Our friends Lord a Lady Plunket had come to stay at Camelot Castle. This was a few days prior to our London gathering and our introductory evening of Charlie and Candace - and their ideas - to the UK. A few days later the Plunkets would leave Camelot Castle and travel directly to Windsor Castle where they had tea with their Majesties, The Queen and Prince Phillip - the Duke of Edinburgh and where they briefed them on Charlie and Candace’s arrival and explained their purpose and mission. Their majesties were extremely interested by the pending events and asked to be kept informed, which they were. Anyway we think this short video captures something of the excitement that we were all anticipating with this now historic impending arrival in the UK. We texted it that night to Charlie and Candace. As you can see below. It was a purely benign moment. Sometimes when battling evil in the present it is important to remember the POSITIVE ENERGY That positive energy and positive intention is the only reason that evil attacks in the first instance. The recent unjust attacks on Candace Candace Owens for supporting her friend caused us to peruse and re visit our own text archive. And among other interesting things (that we may share later). We found this. A never before seen (other than by them), fun clip that we made for Charlie and Candace to welcome them to the UK. So we share it with you their friends now. This video was recorded on Dec 6th 2018 Think of it as a positive message in a bottle on the sea of eternity. We think is so important that you perceive the energy and excitement that they generated that caused the expansion that they created together. You can sense their igniting the purpose of Freedom and the life energy that they brought to bear. When Charlie and Candace came to England to connect up with all the positive energy and conceptual and philosophical alignment that they did connect to here in the UK the tremendous anticipation and atmosphere was palpable. We all felt, and knew really, that something great and miraculous was going to happen. Our friends Lord a Lady Plunket had come to stay at Camelot Castle. This was a few days prior to our London gathering and our introductory evening of Charlie and Candace - and their ideas - to the UK. A few days later the Plunkets would leave Camelot Castle and travel directly to Windsor Castle where they had tea with their Majesties, The Queen and Prince Phillip - the Duke of Edinburgh and where they briefed them on Charlie and Candace’s arrival and explained their purpose and mission. Their majesties were extremely interested by the pending events and asked to be kept informed, which they were. Anyway we think this short video captures something of the excitement that we were all anticipating with this now historic impending arrival in the UK. We texted it that night to Charlie and Candace. As you can see below. It was a purely benign moment. Sometimes when battling evil in the present it is important to remember the POSITIVE ENERGY That positive energy and positive intention is the only reason that evil attacks in the first instance. So grateful to you, all the fans who continue to listen to my music and come to shows. It has been 26 years since I came out of yeshiva on Friday afternoons to record my first album Shake Off The Dust. I would take the train to downtown BK and walk to Dumbo with a vision and a dream. I recorded those first songs mixing my two loves reggae music and Judaism in a way that felt natural to me. We played our first shows as band in New York City and the live energy was contagious. It’s been a bumpy road at times and at other has felt like I was being pulled up and lifted by angels around me. Those angels have been real people and I say Thank You to you, all the angels who have supported my musical existence these last 26 years. #happythanksgiving #happythanksgiving2025

And then also from that Infinity video that's never been seen. So people could just see like his joy and love for life. There was so many clips, but he's just laughing and like loving life and like enjoying it and looking at the camera. And like, if you look at it, the consistency of every single one of those clips is significant because he's looking over Verona and celebrating with his hands in the air and smiling. And then he's looking at Wembley Stadium, he's smiling, and then San Siro and he's laughing. And then we're doing the Infinity video and he's laughing. John Renoir on filming the train scenes in 'The Human Beast' (1938): "'The Human Beast' (1938) was a rather difficult film to shoot, since much of it takes place on locomotives. You can't shoot on a locomotive the way you can in a studio. There was so much to install. I must say that the state railway system was marvelous, they helped us, gave us some extraordinary assistants who took part in the film, who advised us, who prevented us from making mistakes. Because here again I insisted on exterior reality, I wanted very much for it to be respected. Believe me, there isn't a detail in this film that isn't exact. They gave us a track that wasn't being used during the time we were shooting the film. On this track we put a train, composed of a locomotive, our locomotive, our character, the Lison, the one we photographed. Behind it, we had a flatcar on which we had two generators to provide the electricity. We lit the locomotive exactly as if it were a character in a studio: instruments, lights, backlighting, everything you need. And of course all that was connected with wires, with straps, all that. It was all very complicated, because we were moving at sixty miles an hour! To reach sixty miles an hour in a hurry, we had another train push us from behind, so that we picked up speed quickly. We did it with two locomotives. We also had a few normal cars in which the actors could wash up, relax when they weren't shooting, reapply their makeup, have something to eat, and so on. It all was very organized. I must say that the photography was exciting and rather dangerous at times. My nephew, the cameraman, Claude Renoir, was almost knocked off once. He was in charge of a camera that was against the side of the locomotive. We had measured everything. The camera was fixed against the locomotive, but we had miscalculated, and the camera stuck out maybe one centimeter, and when we entered a tunnel - we were filming in a tunnel - the camera was knocked off and smashed. Luckily Claude saw what was coming just before it happened, he guessed it, and he flattened himself against the train and wasn't knocked off too. Luckily he's still alive." I’ll add some context to my earlier tweet because I’m still mentally recovering from everything that happened. We were southwest of Kankakee, Illinois and we turned north to go down a dirt road with a bunch of chasers, and once we turned down that road everyone started turning around. I assumed everyone was turning around because of the wall cloud/tornado crossing it, well I was wrong. I couple people turned around and very large hail started hitting the road, so we use a persons driveway to turn around and once we got turned around, a big chunk of hail hit my passenger window (because I’m not the driver), presumably baseball sized hail or larger and nearly shattered the window, but thankfully it was soft enough that it didn’t. We went back east and north on the highway to get another view of the tornado and it goes into full multi-vortex like 30 yards in front of us as hail starts hitting the vehicle, so we turn back around to find a vehicle (I don’t wanna call them out directly) was parked in the middle of the road and was blocking it. That chaser moved and we went south to find more cars on the shoulder on the left side of the road and another car stopped in the southbound lanes and they were panicking and they were blocking us from going south. Thankfully they moved and we were able to get south. Around this time, we start getting text messages that my grandparents who live in Yukon were hearing tornado sirens and we’re getting into shelter. So once we got south of the supercell and were repositioning, I was looking at this while driving and directing my mom because I was trying to figure out what was going on. We were going north on a highway and accidentally missed the road to turn right because my mom didn’t see it and I wasn’t paying attention. So she is forced to make a very sharp right turn on a road that curves, and since we chase in a 13,000 pound Chevy dually 1 ton, we can’t exactly turn on a dime. She tries to turn once and can’t make it so she backs up, she then goes forward again thinking she can make it and she can’t, so she has to back up again. In the midst of this, 3 chasers including Connor Croff were behind us and we were getting honked at. I got told that over stream Connor was bad mouthing us, got mad at us, and said that we almost caused a 3 car pile up simply because we stopped at a stop sign, cleared it, then tried to make a sharp right turn but couldn’t make it all the way, and this made me and my mom very mad once we learned this because we didn’t almost cause a 3 car pile up. If we almost did, they shouldn’t have been driving that close to us and should’ve been giving us space. After this, we continued east and eventually ended up ahead of the supercell as it was producing a wedge tornado. We began driving north towards it and my mom told me there was a semi truck coming up beside us and I asked her to turn our CB Radio on and see if I could get into contact with that driver and get him to stop. In the act of doing all of this, I lost complete situational awareness and ended up putting us in a terrible position. I was able to get into contact with the driver who passed us on the left and managed to get him to stop. Once I got him to stop I looked back at radar to see that we were in the path of the tornado so we turned back south. As we were turning south the tornado was crossing the highway and winds increased significantly. Visibility was bad and we got hit by the tornado. We got hit by a satellite or a vortex on the south side of the tornado and almost blew us off of the road. By losing situational awareness, it got us into a terrible situation, and had we not been in our chase vehicle, Black Betty, that could’ve been a lot worse, but it takes a lot to move this truck, let alone roll it. We’re alright, I’m alright. The truck is alright and didn’t sustain any damage from that tornado, but I’m going to be taking a huge step back and reevaluating the way I chase. Thank god we’re alright.
