Lime is being dropped off as soon as we pulled out of this field! There are a few fields with low pH so after harvest, lime is dumped on the field edge and then spread with a spreader according to the needs of the field based off soil sample results. Lime raises the pH which makes nutrients more available for the plants. It is expensive to spread though!

So it turns out, it's more than just the name that Apple borrowed. iPhone Duo is the first folding phone I've seen copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing system pretty much 1:1! iPhone Duo can treat each half of the folding display as separate, letting you dock an app to one side and view your home screen on the other, just like Surface Duo. The gestures for multitasking are identical between iPhone Duo and Surface Duo too. You drag an app to the side you want and it fills that half of the screen. You can pick the app up and move it to the other side, and everything will dynamically adjust. It even does the "automatic" multitasking that I've raved about on Surface Duo. If you open a link in an app, it'll move the app over and open the link in your browser. Surface Duo did this, and now iPhone Duo does too. I've been waiting for a folding phone to copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing behavior, and we finally have one in the form of iPhone Duo. Well done, Apple. Between the wide form factor like Surface Duo, the pen support like Surface Duo, and now the multitasking like Surface Duo... I think Surface Duo fans may have finally found their Surface Duo 3 in iPhone Duo.

There is a room in Málaga that was built to be the closest thing on earth to standing inside heaven. It is called the camarín of the Virgin of Victory, and it is hidden at the top of a tower inside the Santuario de la Victoria. To reach it, you climb and the ascent is the entire point... The building you are climbing through was completed in 1700, and it was designed as a single argument made in stone. At the bottom lies a crypt: a black chamber crowded with white plaster skeletons, a meditation on death and the brevity of life. From there a staircase rises, and as you climb it the light grows stronger and the imagery changes from bones to saints. The architects of the time understood this ascent as the soul's own journey, the dark crypt as the stage of penitence, the staircase as the stage of spiritual progress, and the room at the very top as the final stage: the union of the soul with the divine. That room at the top is the camarín, and its dome is one of the most extraordinary interiors in Spain... Every surface is covered in white and gold plasterwork. There is no empty space anywhere. The Baroque called this horror vacui, the horror of the void: the conviction that a space meant to represent heaven should not contain a single bare patch of stone. Out of that plasterwork emerge angels, flowers, birds, and mirrors. The mirrors are not decoration alone. They catch the light pouring in through the windows of the drum and throw it around the chamber, so that the gold seems to move and the whole room appears to shimmer and breathe. This wonder was built by people who believed that if you wanted to show a human being what heaven might feel like, you did not describe it to them. Apparently, I saw this video online and I decided to share. What this worker is applying is called bitumen, or what many of us know as bituminous coating. Most people think a wall is a solid, impenetrable block, but in reality, it is more like a sponge. Concrete and blocks have microscopic pores that pull water from the earth through a process we call capillary action. This thick black substance is the shield that stops that water from climbing up into the house. It is not about making the wall look good because this part will be buried under the dirt forever. It is about creating a skin that water cannot breathe through. When do you need to do this? The need for this arises because the soil is a very aggressive environment. Water is not your only enemy.. The ground also contains salts and sulfates that want to eat away at the cement. If this moisture finds its way to the steel bars inside the columns, those bars will start to rust. And when steel rusts, it expands, and that expansion is what cracks the concrete from the inside out. This coating is the only thing standing between your foundation and that kind of slow destruction. Thats is why if you see wet patches at the bottom of your walls inside your house, it usually means someone skipped this step or did it poorly during construction. You can apply this anytime you are building parts of a structure that will stay in contact with the ground. It is common in areas where the water table is high or where the soil stays damp for most of the year. This is a one-shot opportunity. Once you backfill the soil, you can never go back to fix it without a lot of expense and a lot of digging. It is about having the foresight to protect the heart of the building while it is still exposed. Please don’t ignore this if you need to. If you ignore it now to save a bit of money, you will be funding the future decay of your own home. I hope this helps.

Low pressure develops at the surface as air rises, then you get a swirling motion as air rushes in to fill in the gaps. This is a construction site - full of dirt which heats up more intensely. I’m insanely proud of this piece and the collection. This is edition #2 of Left Alone and whomever collects the digital version of it, can claim this if they want it. Description ⬇️: Left Alone by Archie Shepp (1978) is one of the most beautiful pieces of instrumental music I know. A saxophone, accompanied by a piano, plays notes that resonate with my heart. In my mind, this photograph moves with an impossible slowness to an undefinable silence between notes in jazz riff. The duality in this Aria, Left Alone, is nihilism and conflagration. I posed the model and the fabric in the Japanese character for fire. She models the pose of power in the fluidity of dance. A flame, alone, is a powerful and fragile life force that is on the brink of greatness, and the precipice of darkness; life extinguished. The red is her power extending from heart center and the white is the searing flame. The art is laden with abstractions. Broken pieces of the self that seem grotesque but to the observer, are beautiful. To illustrate how these glitches are manifest in ourselves, I’ve placed each on a Fibonacci curve that spirals from the heart, representing our repeating thought patterns. In Left Alone, I chose to hide the Fibonacci curve. In the latter Arias, I chose to reveal them. You can find the Aria collection on Foundation 🌐 This is Left Alone, the second of nine pieces.
