@metapreston boy do I miss that Apple

@metapreston Apples idea of perfect 🤣

@metapreston the message and the delivery are beautiful. i’ve seen this before but thanks for posting this. an encouraging reminder that’s maybe more relevant now than ever

@metapreston i’m not sure if jony’s brand of pre-internet elitism is right for today

didn't read, what did it say?

@metapreston The "Designed by Apple in California" spot dropped right after WWDC 2013 June 10, to be exact.. as Apple's first real brand manifesto post Jobs, echoing Think Different while subtly shading Samsung's product sprawl. Still hits harder than most launch ads today imo

@metapreston The irony, of course, if they have not produced anything new Or anything perfect Apple stopped inventing

@metapreston 2013 is like a love letter from the past

@metapreston Still one of the greatest pieces of art Apple has put out. I adored this in high school.

@metapreston Maybe @apple should show this to their iOS engineers.

@metapreston good old days

@metapreston Oldie but a goodie. It’s not an ad. It first played at the beginning of a keynote. I use this exact manifesto to help guide clients in their goal setting. Works great!

@metapreston What was the ad for ? 1K $ Laptop Apple Stand ? 😏

@metapreston Something about it Apple was on a whole other level back then. If I had to distill it down, it’s probably the fact they used to communicate their values and now they just show products and features

@metapreston Are you listening, @Apple ?

@metapreston @grok is this not similar to a ChatGPT or OpenAI ad?

@metapreston I’ve never seen this before. What a great ad. Gosh I miss Steve Jobs.

@metapreston This was a beautiful watch

@metapreston This was not an advertisement. It was an opening promo video for Apple’s presentation at their developer conference. Apple did pay any outlets to run or show this video.

It's crazy how we went from making everything convenient and easy to over complicating everything. Take Blockbuster for instance it was an event you'd pile into the car with family/ friends, wander the aisles, grab popcorn or candy from the counter, and pick movies or games together. No monthly commitment, just a one-off cost. The stores created a community vibe Redbox made renting more convenient and cheaper, no store visit needed (just a kiosk), and still no subscriptions. Then Netflix came along and made everything "instant" but now it's endless scrolling through algorithms instead of browsing shelves while paying an endless monthly subscription. So now instead of paying once per movie we are paying multiple different subscriptions because one streaming platform has this or that blah blah. Now with software we see something similar (phones, appliances—many are built with planned obsolescence in mind) Or they're sold as "subscriptions" (like Adobe Creative Cloud instead of buying software outright) Products feel less durable because companies profit more from repeat sales or ongoing fees than from making something that lasts forever. It's like we traded ownership and one-time simplicity for access and convenience, but the bill keeps coming

@metapreston Best video Ever

@metapreston Still relevant today.

@metapreston This feel so relevant now woth all the “vibe coded” apps popping up! (Admittedly, I’m building three vibe coded apps atm) but I do subscribe to the philosophy that making great things takes time and the objective must serve the end user a product they actually love

@metapreston Peak apple

@metapreston

@metapreston This ad would never survive today. Gen Z wouldn’t get past .3 seconds w/o getting distracted looking at their phone.

@metapreston And then they released the stupid liquid glass 🤦🏻♂️

@metapreston Perfection

@metapreston Pretty cool Ad, Apple has lost the magic.

@metapreston Apple is rarely the first to market when it comes to new innovative features, but they were always the one to drive trends and create industry standards

@metapreston They were 20 years ahead in UX design and flow.

@metapreston Best ad I've ever seen

@metapreston Looks like one of those company explainer vids you get done on fiver

@metapreston I don’t know how But I know 100% this is not AI generated before I read the caption

@metapreston Beautiful

@metapreston Beautiful but doesn't apply to Apple anymore.
