There's a place in Saqsaywaman, a minefield of huge boulders with precision cuts and smoothed down surfaces. It is one of the most bizarre areas I have ever seen, it is also believed to guard an entrance point into the vast, fabled labyrinth (Chinkana), below the site!

🚨Megalithic Stone Nubs on a 14th CE French Chateau!? This is the first time I have seen stone nubs in mediaval architecure. This is an ancient stonemaking signature, one we see in Egpt, Peru, Greece, Turkey, India and many other countries. They are typically found on what is clearly extremely ancient architecture, but not this one, so why was it done? The tools had evolved at this point, in 14th CE Europe, to allow this type of work without novel techniques being required. But perhaps they didn't. Perhaps this is the most contemporary example of an all-but-lost stonemaking lineage that stretches all the way back into pre-history, one that can be found globally across the ancient world. The question still stands... why do this?
