This umpire initially called the runner coming home out. The catcher drops the ball and then the umpire rules him safe because of the dropped ball. Then the catcher after a couple of seconds goes and tags the runner and the umpire calls him out. I don’t know what game the umpire is watching but it clearly isn’t this one. And I don’t know where he received his training. After the catcher dropped the ball, if he thought the runner didn’t touch home he should have made no call. But clearly he does. What do you think? Was he safe or out?

This runner at first was caught in a pick off move by the pitcher. Pitcher throws to first and the first baseman fires to second and the umpire calls him out. He looked safe on the play. However, the umpire admits he was safe but said he called him out because the other team was losing 10-0 in the first inning. He said “he was so safe but I just gave it to them.” Basically saying we gotta’ get the game moving right? Fellow umpires, some coaches and parents said they respect the call and why. But many people said you are cheating that one runner by calling him out. They said no matter the score you have to have integrity even if it is 20-0. They said this is why kids grow up disliking umpires and why parents act the way they do. Tough one- I actually understand where he is coming from but if that were your kid, would you want him called out? I say call the game the right way 100% and let it play out the way it is supposed to. How is the other team supposed to get better if you are giving them calls? Do you agree with the umpire and why he did it? Or, are you totally against that and that should never happen?

The throw to the catcher gets there way ahead of time of the runner. The catcher catches the ball, waits for the runner and applies the tag. Easy out right? 💯 The umpire calls obstruction on the catcher and said he was obstructing the runner from scoring. The runner is safe! 🤯 That may be one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen on any level. The ball arrived so early that the catcher could have sat on home plate and had lunch waiting for that runner. I’ve had a ton of questions regarding today’s first inning in Kansas City regarding the Philadelphia Phillies at Kansas City Royals, and why all six runs were earned despite an error. The error by Turner is a throwing error, and while a good throw would have ended the inning, this is NOT an assumed out error because of the out at second base (this is where you don’t assume a double play). So, even without this error, all six runs would have scored, so the six earned runs against Christopher Sánchez is correct. EDIT: adding this, but again, the error here is only for the extra base advancement, not for being safe at first, as the batter officially was safe on a fielder’s choice. The only way you could have an error on this is if the throw was a good one and on target, and the first baseman missed or dropped it. Outside of that, the error is just for the extra bases, not for how the batter reached. He reached on a fielder’s choice. #RingTheBell #FountainsUp

No we didn’t lose the game off this But can we talk about how bad this call was? Batters foot is a GOOD ways out of the box and it hits him, but he gets the free base. This 100% should’ve been ruled as the batter being out. You cannot step out of the box.

🚨WEIRD PAY ALERT🚨 We have ABANDONMENT!!! Also, there is an irony this happened in Philadelphia and it was a Cincinnati Reds prospect that did it! This is from the 4th inning of today's Future's Game. Alfredo Duno of the Chattanooga Lookouts grounds a ball to third, and the throw from Caleb Bonemer up the line, and caught by first baseman Ralphy Velazquez. Velazquez has the ball and is straddling the baseline, so there is no where for Duno to go, so he basically says "screw it" and leaves the basepath and heads to the dugout. You can't see it here, but the first base umpire made the two-handed sweeping gesture for out of the baseline, but since the player isn't so much avoiding the tag as he is just heading to the dugout without completing the play, this is abandonment. You score it just the same as if the out was completed in regular fashion, so this is a 5-3 groundout. #MLBFuturesGame #RingTheBell #ATOBTTR
