We really don’t talk enough about how terrifying Darth Vader’s introduction was in the third episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Despite being one of the most iconic and intimidating villains in cinematic history, seeing Vader mercilessly take out someone without even igniting his lightsaber is easily one of the darkest moments I’ve ever seen in a Star Wars project. We’d never seen this character quite this angry before, and this scene is as chilling to watch as it is just outright horrifying.

Despite being one of the pulpiest Star Wars movies IMO, it’s really fascinating to take a look back at how ominous the first teaser for Attack of the Clones was. Darth Vader’s breathing being the only sound throughout the entire teaser makes the film look way eerier than it actually is. Even wilder considering it played before screenings of Toy Story 2 back in 2002.

Not only does the lack of choreography brilliantly showcase Luke’s anger and brief descent into darkness, but John Williams’ score is so emotional that it almost brings me to tears every time I hear it.
