Listen, green juicing - should you do it, or leave it? Never mind the video attached, its just for entertainment purposes. The video shows a woman who goes to an [organic] farm and plucks fresh green leafy veggies, adds turmeric, lemon and ginger and makes a "green juice" which is claimed to be tasty and healthy. But what I would really want to discuss today, is if you really need to "green juiced detox" for wellness. No opinions here, no hearsay, just pure science of it. Green juicing is a detox practice. But none actually knows what is getting detoxed. An organ? An organ system? The body? No idea. The whole body is already getting detoxed by liver and kidneys and they do a wonderful job of it. Similar to "who watches the watchmen," line, should you "detox the detoxers?" For that, one must realize that detox is not a legit medical science word or practice. Detox is a wellness quackery term created to expand business oppurtunities. You have detox powders, detox tablets, detox capsules, detox practices (such as massages, oil pulling through nose, enemas, exposing anus to the Sun called 'sunning,' and so much more) and yes, detox juices. Detox is there is grab your hard earned money. A green juice or any type of detox for that matter does not help you prevent or treat any disease known to humans. The only thing getting detoxed with a detox is your bank account. The dubious practice of detox. Products that promise “detox” are a sham. Yes, all of them. Now the green juice thing. Be careful of what you put in there to blend, because your real detoxers - the liver and kidneys have to work extra to relieve you from the stress of it all. Green leafy veggies blended together is a dangerous thing. Many green veggies are rich in oxalates - like spinach, lettuce, celery and beetroot. Excess of oxalates can harm your kidneys if they get overwhelmed with the work-overload - like in this case where a woman developed kidney failure after green juice cleanse. "Green Smoothie Cleanse" Causing Acute Oxalate Nephropathy This is not an isolated incident. There are many reports in published medical literature that has reported kidney injury and kidney failure due to green juicing. Here are some of them. ➡️Oxalate nephropathy due to 'juicing': case report and review ➡️Acute Oxalate Nephropathy Caused by Excessive Vegetable Juicing and Concomitant Volume Depletion ➡️Acute Kidney Injury in a Patient Engaged in Vegetable Juicing And that is not all - sometimes, fresh green juicing, especially directly from the farm (like what the lady in the video does) can transmit really weird parasites - like that was seen in Korea. Many people developed an infestation from flatworms that affected their livers due to green juicing. Does green juicing do anything beneficial at all, to human metabolism and hence wellness? A randomized controlled study (which is a very good design methodology to identify effectivenss of an intervention) showed that green juicing was an absolute waste of everyones time. The authors stated that "Together with an analysis of previous works, we suggest that green juice did not cause an improvement in metabolic function and there is a need for further research on this issue." Bummer! If you are going to do a Green juice to "detox" your body, know that you are wasting your time and resources and potentially exposing your real detoxing organs to toxic danger. Stay informed, and stay safe!

A new Lyme disease vaccine is seeking FDA approval. Pfizer and Valneva, a French specialty vaccine company, say a Lyme disease vaccine they are developing has reduced infections by around 70% in clinical trials compared to placebo shots. This woman, a fellow North Texan, had a 40,000 gallon, ten foot deep, salt water Gunite pool, spa, patio, planter overlooking the pool, waterfalls, swim up bar, and more constructed in her backyard for $178K! Looks awesome doesn’t it? Stamped and painted concrete, lights that change colors, the whole nine yards. But if you look closer, you start to see the issues. Cracks in the concrete, tiles uneven, a patio that pools up water, an unfinished planter, etc. the list goes on and on. When she pointed out these defects to the construction company, they walked off the job failing to complete the work. So what does someone do? In North Texas there seems to be a whole lot of protection for the contractor but very little for the consumer. In this type of situation they were paying on a schedule-- 25% for this, 25% for the next phase and so on. She is not going to name the company just yet as legalities enter the picture. There are dates in play and August 11th is a date circled on the calendar. In Texas you have something like 30 days to notify the contractor of issues and then they have something like 30-60 days to respond whether they are going to fix the issues, offer money, etc. They started in December and it is now July. 🤯 Before you say that’s way too much, this pool and backyard has all the upgrades. The planter was to have two fire bowls on each end, waterfalls and then plants and flowers overlooking the pool. A diving board, a lounge pool, a spa that seats 8-10 people, custom tile and decorative trim, lit stairs. They went all out. But now she is stuck with all the issues and flaws and cannot get anyone else willing to finish the work. Yep, first world problems but you would definitely want everything perfect for that amount of money. 100% perfect. 💯 This is exactly why I’m hesitant to have an underground pool installed with a patio and all. Too many worries about upkeep and the job being done right. Issues like this seem to rampant. Some people seems to have some good luck and others seem to have nothing but nightmares. You are the homeowner- list the steps you would take in this situation.

Astronomers have discovered an extraordinary star orbiting Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way, on the most extreme stellar orbit observed there so far. In particular, MICADO on ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope should be sensitive enough to obtain spectroscopy of S301 and determine its radial velocity, while continued observations with GRAVITY+ will refine its astrometry. Its next pericentre passage is expected in 2031, and observing at least two complete orbits should give researchers the precision needed to search for the subtle additional precession produced by the spin of Sagittarius A*. S301 may also provide clues about how stars end up so close to a supermassive black hole. Stars are unlikely to form normally at such small distances because the black hole’s tidal forces make the collapse of ordinary star-forming clouds extremely difficult. The researchers instead favour a scenario involving the Hills mechanism. S301 may originally have belonged to a tight binary system that approached Sagittarius A*. The black hole’s tidal gravity could have torn the binary apart, capturing S301 onto its present highly eccentric orbit while ejecting its companion at enormous velocity, potentially fast enough for that star to escape the Milky Way entirely. The observed orbit of S301 is consistent with this interpretation. The importance of the discovery therefore goes beyond setting a speed record. S301 effectively acts as a natural test particle moving through one of the strongest gravitational fields that astronomers can study using individual stars.
