Simply put, the old left tried to unite the members of the working class, and the new left is trying to pit them against each other. And really, if you're a corrupt politician, wokeism is key. If you divide the people against themselves, they won't unite against you.

Agree. Labeling those who disagree with you as racist, sexist, anti-vax, transphobe, etc. immediately stops all conversation. Prevents agreement, cooperation. Destroys r’ships. “Divide and conquer” using indoctrination, propaganda, censorship, payoffs, govt coercion, fear.
