Why are there so many bicycles in the river?

@oryxspioenkop Yes they swim there in large schools and we fish them up, clean them, sometimes install batteries even, and then we sell them through a loose network of substance dependent people for cash money. Often, they are thrown back out after some use, sometimes even after single use.
