Complaining about the ap poll is so tired. Everyone knows it sucks

This is a deeper issue than that sadly.

I understand the argument, but beating Ohio State on the road doesn’t automatically mean Texas should be ranked ahead. Rankings should reflect who would be favored on a neutral field and how teams stack up week to week, not just one result.

Profilbild von CFBudge
CFBudgevor 6 Tagen

That is not what rankings are. What you have just described are ratings.

Profilbild von Cael

By your definition Oklahoma is better than Texas because they won head to head. Therefore Oklahoma should be ahead of Texas? Right?

No you just didn't listen. "Head to head should matter when the resumes are similar" Oklahoma's resume is not even close to Texas'

3 things can all be true. - Texas beat OSU - I would pick OSU to beat Texas if they played tomorrow - Texas should be above OSU in any ranking at this point in the season

Uhhhh Ohio state won’t have a loss to an unranked team? Don’t get what’s confusing here?

Come on dude lol most fraudulent win we’ve ever seen, everyone knows that Ohio State is much better than Texas

So where do you suggest they put the teams then? You can't drop Ohio State because they have won all of their games from that point on, I don't see how you can drop OSU to 8 or keep Texas above teams that are undefeated like Indiana 🤷

Profilbild von CFBudge
CFBudgevor 6 Tagen

You can drop Ohio State actually. Resumes are fluid and that's the thing most people fail to understand when it comes to rankings.

Profilbild von Will Tchetter Lover

Fair enough... I think the big issue was not dropping Ohio State far enough in the first place... No reason they should be above Indiana or Alabama in my opinion

Losing to Oklahoma should have Texas way below Ohio State regardless of what happened. Some losses are so bad that it invalidates the head to head and losing to Oklahoma is that type of loss.

if the role was reversed would you say the same thing? if osu beat Texas at home at night by 1 after texas was up by 20 the whole game, had extreme bad luck, then ended up losing to an unranked team 3 weeks later, and Texas dominated every team, the resumes aren’t similar i guess

Profilbild von Andy

holy shit quit crying and don’t lose to a fucking unranked team 😂 i guess michigan should have made the playoffs in 2024 because they beat osu right? retarded logic win your games

It’s the AP poll who gives a fuck literally doesn’t mean anything

Profilbild von Jordan

The worst thing about the AP, is they don’t like to drop teams that won that week even when their overall resume takes a clear hit. tOSU and Ole Miss are the two biggest beneficiaries of this. Ole Miss resume is aging like milk, but the AP will NOT adjust until they lose again.

Profilbild von Jmike97

The AP poll is irrelevant. CFP placements coming soon is all that matters.

Profilbild von Deebs

So, let's say 3 teams are all 4-1. A beat B B beat C C beat A What does your "simple, not rocket science" approach do then?

Texas’s reward is they’re still ranked ahead of several undefeated teams despite losing to an unranked opponent Moving OSU below Indiana and Alabama because Texas lost would just reward those teams for a weak OOC schedule

Texas V OSU game was in week 2. Based on play since the. OSU should be ranked ahead. If they both finish with the same record at end of the year than the h2h will matter

I agree with you and I believe I said the same thing when OSU fans were complaining about his far they dropped when they lost to Texas vs how Alabama didn't fall at all again losing to Georgia despite the fact that Kentucky has been winning. I was like technically OSU should've dropped lower because that lose to Texas is no longer looks like a "quality loss" after Texas lost to OU.

Crazy how they put OSU over Texas because of a bad loss but when Miami had 2 bad losses last year they still stayed above ND. And I’m not arguing for nd ro have been above Miami just want consistency

A team that beats another team does not always end up ranked higher. Happens all the time. Ohio State doesn't have a loss to an unranked team. Plus they played AT Texas and lost by 1 point. If they played again, I don't know who'd win. Neither do you.

Profilbild von Chrissy Speed Clipner

😂 OSU lost to a team ranked #3, while on the road, beating them 3 quarters and lost by one point in a loud (pretty cool) stadium. Texas lost to an unranked team. This is a flawed comment from clearly a subjective fan. 😂

AP voters don’t need to be how CFB ranks before the CFP rankings. Half of em are bogus journalist that come up with even stupider columns to justify their rankings. I bet only a small percentage actually watch the games

Profilbild von aaronispcool

The issue is dropping OSU (for example) below bama wouldn't make sense as it's punishing osu for scheduling the non conference opponent. However Texas also deserves to be dropped as they lost to a horrible Oklahoma team. It's a hard situation and 100% not black and white
