I suppose someone with perfect pitch could hear the harmonics or dissonance of the sound. But I am unclear how they would be able to calculate that Frequency into the ml of liquid in a given vessel unless they had memorized the entire gradient spectrum individually on one standard.

It's really easy when you actually think about it. All she had to do was know the measurements before hand, and remember the tune when they hit each other. Not to undermine it, though, as hearing and having perfect knowledge is still impressive.
