This advice changed the game for me. Could have used it way earlier but better late than never.

That’s how I used to shoot when I played a lot of pickup games back in HS and college. People would always try to ‘correct’ me, but that’s what worked for me. The standard grip would ruin my game.

The hand placement is only part of it - not being square to the basket AND the hand adjustment allows u to align your shooting shoulder, elbow, and hip with the rim, which is crucial for accuracy. This is why many FT shooters setup at a 30-45 degree angle to the line.

If it took you this long to figure out the most intuitive aspect of shooting you shod try a different sport

yeah idk why we were taught to shoot that way, always felt uncomfortable and compressed. the way you teach us here is how i’ve always shot
