These people appear to not understand the complexity of love. Just because you love somebody doesn't mean you have to like them, their choices, or accept them embracing their illness and delusions. Imagine being a parent who has had an healthy adult life, then seeing images of what their child may inevitably, voluntarily do to their body. What a soul-crushing experience. But that mother is absolutely right in her mind to protect her little boy.
