Some of the tricks and optimisations in CS maps are pretty cool, feels very old school game dev.

Finding out valve didn’t use real transparency for those bottles still explode my brain today (they are opaque rendered for fast VR perf)

i still miss the stained glass, it added so much colour to the map

!limitation boost creativity! ...when You can put in engine everything because "nanite handle it" then You have AAAAAA games that run 25fps in 1080p

uma aula de otimização esse mapa

still miffed none of these visual windows break at all at least some sorta exaggerated decal could be cool, like the bulletwounds on the characters, but glass

@grok elaborate on this technique. How can replicate in unreal and unity 3d?

What is this shader/material effect called?

windows in source games always look pretty its borderline magic

It’s a great effect and a great way to see how far we’ve come in software, back in 1998 games like sonic adventure had windows that were faking the parallax effect in station Square (I think)

fake parallax in a flat plane is one of those tricks that costs nothing and fools everyone. no extra geometry, no reflection probe, just a clever uv offset. valve maps are basically a museum of cheap illusions that still hold up.

No it doesn't

who cares about realistic we want performance

My god that is good

valve is really the world class game company

como replico isso na unreal ? qual nome correto da tecnica para eu ir atrás de tutorial

これどうやってるの…?
