No bueno. This is as shallow as it gets. Life is about character formation: honesty, integrity, loyalty, determination, but also justice, compassion and mercy. These are applied to work, relationships, sports, and cultural engagement. And calling a boy's father a loser? Witless.

He's right! I was raised with 'It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you play the game'. I had amazing parents, but that advice was pure BS! No one remembers 2'nd place!

In the same vein, “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.” It’s highly likely the coach is also a loser.

Love this I have the same mentality and any participation trophy my kids I toss in the garbage. Plus true winners know what losing is like. Figure it out get your head back in the game.

Losing is one of the lessons they need to learn at this age. Not to mention teamwork, fair play, honor, effort and all... so, since they are learning, no one is losing even when they loose.
