The amount of hate Subaru got after that and even still does with some people is insane. Still one of my favorite scenes in the series though and I love what-was-her-name-again aswell Personally, I do much prefer Emilia now though but she's still awesome and a great waifu too

I genuinely don't understand Tappei Nagatsuki. He makes the greatest supporting character of all time, then proceeds to yank her out of the story for literal years. Re Zero season 1 is an all time of my favorite anime ever, I'm still watching but nothing yet has hit as hard.

A major theme of this arc is that no matter what Subaru puts himself through for Emilia she isn't obligated to love him back. Anyone who gets that but still don't get why Subaru isn't obligated to love Rem back didn't understand the lesson at all.
