I hate inefficient meetings. I like to keep them short. The best question is: "What are the biggest unknowns and how long would a quick investigation take to reduce them? Also, there is no deadline."

If you give your time estimate, they'll just argue and give you a deadline of about half of that.

My response: That's ok, if you're that busy, I'll go get claude to do it. It would take less time to debug that then your code. And then highlight it in the mbr that it saved me 20 hours and avoided a sprint adjustment.

Tell the swe the deadline is "tomorrow" and he will tell you how long he wants. The new deadline is half that. When its not done at that point, give them another week and it will be done.

We just estimate and say we expect this in 3 days. If someone disagrees then can push back with how much time is needed. But maybe software is different to finance.
