Time for the feds to step forward

Insurance is a racket to begin with, but in UCP Alberta, the insurance grift becomes exponentially more massive. Home and private car insurance should be de-profitied. Why not? The UCP is de-risking the tar sands for the US oil companies, destroying the environment there.

Ralph Klein did a lot of damage as well. He basically started the shutdown of rural hospitals. Forcing rural albertans to travel to urban hospitals for surgeries and childbirth. Causing a backlog in services as urban hospitals had to take on all those extra folks.

The really sad part is here in Ont. Ford isn't even trying to hide it, he's been so blatantly brazen about it and yet people walk around like zombies unaware until they need services then complain! And even worse, they bother to VOTE! It's so disgraceful!

What part of this sounds viable to you, especially with millions of newcomers in the last few years? What solution do you offer Bev? You’ve repeatedly voted for the death of Canada and still have the gall to complain?

If health care is rationed to the point that people die while waiting for it, then it is not universal. Also, thanks to Liberal Boomers, Canada's federal government now pays more on making interest payments on Canada's debt then on health care. GREAT JOB BEV!

Universal health care is consuming an ever larger share of public spending, in some provinces approaching half of the social budget. When one program expands to that scale, the tradeoff is unavoidable. Funding is pulled from education, income support, housing, infrastructure, public safety, the justice system, and even national defence. This is not a theoretical concern, it is a budgeting reality. If we refuse to consider reform, including a tiered option for those who can afford to pay, then we are not preserving the system, we are choosing which other public services will decline instead. Call it a slippery slope if you want, but the slope already exists. The only question is which programs we are willing to let erode.

Good! Administrative spending in healthcare is out of control. Anyone who's been to a Canadian hospital knows this. 10 administrators for every nurse, 10 for every doctor. All with $5000 desks, $1000 orthopedic chairs, $20 pens, and ridiculous benefits. MASSIVE WAITS!

Universal Healthcare shouldn’t have to be delivered by only one entity. That’s called a monopoly. When the monopoly belongs to the government it’s even worse.

More people die waiting for treatment in Canada than die in theUS from being refused treatment. Another reason Alberta is leaving. The ROC can sink or swim on their own.
