Trucks should never be in the left lane. It’s not his job to let them merge, it’s their job to merge

I cant stand when people match drive. If you are going the same speed limit as the car next to you, either get in front of them or behind them, and leave the other lane open.

I prefer the truckers not let the morons merge. Life is much easier for everyone that way.

Stay in the right lane. Don't be "courteous". Traffic already on the highway has right-of-way. Merging traffic has to figure out how to merge safely. I know in some states the law is different, those states are wrong.

Exactly right. And by law, it’s people merging onto the freeway that have to yield, although most of them, because they’re ignorant, think people on the highway have to yield to them.

I hate it when people do that. Can't imagine how annoying it is for real truckers.

I don't move over for 4-wheelers just because of this. they can suck it.

Classic merge fail: Trucker kindly lets cars in, they immediately block him, match speed, and trap the big rig. Never again. Lesson: Courtesy kills momentum on the highway. Stay in your lane, merge properly, or get boxed. Trucker rage justified.

If you just follow the rules you don't have to worry about being polite or impolite. In nautical terms the trucker is the stand on vessel and the people merging are the give way vessels. The safest and most courteous thing the trucker could do is not change speed or Direction

IF (BIG IF) I move over to let them merge, I immediately turn on my right turn signal and start riding the lane marker so everyone else knows that I'm not the asshole here.

If trucker keeps their blinker on indicating they want to merge right, then I assume everybody in the right lane are the assholes.

Nanopenis guys who, when you pass them, feel the need to speed up to match you and jam up traffic, then eventually let off the gas and start falling back again are one of the most annoying things on the road. Why I'm such a V8 devotee, just out-accelerate them and get in front.

Instead of changing lanes, the trucker could have just adjusted his speed so as to allow the merge.

That's why I don't move over. I leave about 100 yards of distance in front of me. If you can't accelerate down the ramp to that gap, you can either stop or eat the fucking guardrail. Merging traffic yields.

I do that on a regular, expect with the speed limiter equipped, I can’t go more than 68 mph so it makes it a little more challenging.

Another good post acknowledging the subtleties of driving. Won't keep idiots from replying anyway. I see replies saying the trucker should've slowed down. Oh, go even slower in the left lane? Nothing will satisfy these people yet they will take vengeance against you on the road. Their passive aggressiveness knows no bounds. Their head-canon rules only make sense to themselves. Like a common animal, they only react to what happens in front of them, without considering what it takes to maintain the greater cohesive order.

Had an asshole in Quebec do that to me one night. Short time later, he slowed down, i tried to pass him, he sped up again I turned on my LED bar and high beams and followed him for 10miles until he gave up and let me pass his sorry ass for good

@jna329 Except what we see is you only need half your truck length to get in front of us in the left lane but then 4 truck lengths to get back over to the right. Or when 2 trucks just ride side by side for miles and miles.

If we could just get folks to drive as well as they can walk thru the mall.

As much as I hate this, and really don’t know why people do this; it’s bad. So many times has a semi pulled in front of me as I’m just about to pass them and then slows down in the left lane making me stuck there. Even worse (as it happened last weekend), is when they do this and there is NO one behind you or them.. just let me go by first! Both are wrong.

I’ll block traffic and let the truck back over. Then go flip the cars off after. I truly believe moving over encourages people not to match traffic speed and we’d be better to run them off the road.

The ones that drive me nuts are drivers who begin passing 18 wheelers in the left lane, but then get scared as they catch the truck and slow down and stay even with the truck and block the left lane

@chuck_dont_surf I’m a fan of turning my signal on and slowly merging into the lane I need when they start doing this. They get out of the way really quick when I do that.

People need to enter the on ramp like its a drag race. Floor it until you find your gap and enter. Dont be a pussy

And they get my horn every time This event happens to me ibe time, im no longer getting over for the rest of the day. They can either get on it, back off, or eat grass. I dont care

The right-lane vehicle(s) traveling at highway speeds are under NO OBLIGATION to do ANYTHING to accommodate merging traffic. It is 100% the responsibility of the merging vehicle to safely join the highway-speed traffic.

And this is why I don’t get over for people anymore. It’s their responsibility to merge to the speed of traffic, so make them work for it.
