The pandal is sanctified space, where the presence of Maa Durga reigns supreme in the hearts of millions of devotees. To insist on placing a politician’s portrait alongside the Goddess is a grotesque distortion of faith and an attempt to deify the Prachar Mantri. This is a direct repudiation of our spiritual ethos. That BJP sought to trespass into this space of devotion reveals its contempt for Bengal’s cultural heritage. The people have spoken. The organisers have rejected this diktat. Faith will not be hijacked. Maa Durga cannot be overshadowed.
