shoutout to the original dubber

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

Oh, thank you! I saw this video so many times I could not get who original dubber is

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu I seen that before, what makes it different from original question is that blender is painful death while original is just pressing buttons. Pain changes the outcome of the question

Lovhes's profile picture
Lovhes6 months ago

Oh so are we avoiding death or are we avoiding pain?

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu It's both, can't you read what I said? People don't want to die painfully for another person. There is no painful death in original only death vs saving everybody

Lovhes's profile picture
Lovhes6 months ago

Kay, we can change the scenario to the painless insta death gas then. You still gonna go in the gas room?

Jonas's profile picture
Jonas6 months ago

Again, that setup implies that you would die the moment you entered the room. I'd say a better analogy is that a major city like NYC or Chicago is going to be nuked, but if ≥50% of the world chooses to visit the city, they'll call it off. There's no existential threat to being there UNTIL people choose not to visit, in which case everyone who did dies.

@n0ttomuch The premise says nothing about time limit nor does it limit your ability to affect other people choices. You for some reason added more rules to the premise to your own detriment. This isn't the train lever dilemma, there's no active time limit forcing you.

>58% to 42%

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

It was much closer at start like 52 vs 48.

Solyssey's profile picture
Solyssey6 months ago

Worlds cooked Im afraid.

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

Nah, it's indication of high trust. In high trust society you can trust that enough of you will press blue, if you are in low trust risk is too high and you press red

Solyssey's profile picture
Solyssey6 months ago

Thats one way to look at it, but it also shows nearly 50% of people would self preserve themselves in a given situation

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

That is to be expected since lot of people don't have good life. The fact that even in early stages blue was wining ,even by small margin, means we are living pretty well

Wait, if 10^100 is more than all the atoms in the universe, then how will the shrimps live their lives? Where will they live?

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

They will be in the 3 big ass aquariums for this hypothetical XD

Lovhes's profile picture
Lovhes6 months ago

There is no good reason to push for the blue button. Well, there's one if you want to die. But other than that any reason is either dumb, or retarded.

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu If majority pressed red you killed somebody, if majority pressed blue everybody lives. Somebody you knows always dies if majority pressed red , thus to save them you bad together and press blue

LitByLamplight's profile picture
LitByLamplight6 months ago

@genius_eu This is just stochastic suicide and a great illustration of why society is as dysfunctional as it is.

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu Nah, it's high trust. I trust that there are enough people that will vote blue and in this pool there are

Lovhes's profile picture
Lovhes6 months ago

@LamplightBy In Hight trust society I trust my fellow men to not be suicidally stupid and will do their best to stop their fellows from picking the suicidally stupid option. Even when it's against the rules, especially if it's against the rules.

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu @LamplightBy If you are doing your best option to save them from something suicidal you are picking blue option in real life

Lovhes's profile picture
Lovhes6 months ago

@LamplightBy No, the real life version is me beating the shit out of my friend who tried to hang himself as I weep. I will hang myself along him in hopes our combined weight is enough to break the rope without permanent damage.

n0ttomuch (commisions open)'s profile picture
n0ttomuch (commisions open)6 months ago

@genius_eu @LamplightBy Your real life example of beating your friend wont work and just give them more reason to end their life.

I wonder what the red buttoners thinks the civilization would go if it only has the red buttoners once every blue buttoners has been killed.

And I agree with the Maytag man.

When he picked blue to save everybody or when he killed all the shrimp? lmao

Both. And when he hypothetically own three Maytag freezers to preserve different flavors of shrimps

We can’t treat it like a hypothetical when blue won lmao, it’s the objectively correct option because it won

Honestly, the thought experiment doesn't work, because logically people have no reason to press Red, since it creates a negative-feedback society. Everyone will know that you have no desire to help them and people will turn into animals, backstabbing each other. It's #shrimple.

this is literally what Beast Games Season 2 was about - like yeah people actually do believe in good and justice even when the antichrist is standing over them screaming "FIVE MILLION DOLLARS!!!"

@abundantspunk I think he had to change the games because people just keep hopemaxing lol

"no you MUST be evil and hate each other because humans selfishly only desire money" vs the cast of Beast Games enduring any punishment for the unlimited free starbucks The meta AFAIK is literally to not play the game until he pays you o leave, its ridiculous

Basically this, if you didn't figure out that everyone can live by picking red you are on the left side of this.

Eddy's profile picture

My take is that if I press the red button I'm guaranteeing I'll stay alive with other red button pressers and I honestly would rather get evaporated along with the blue buttons than have to share a world of only red button pressers

5Raptorboy777's profile picture
5Raptorboy7776 months ago

I get a lot of people are treating it as a joke, which is fine, but I feel like people aren't really thinking of the potential consequences of red winning. Like ok, you survive, but now billions are dead, nations collapse, global economies collapse, people you know/love WILL die

LightSpoken's profile picture
LightSpoken6 months ago

Is it more cost effective to convince >50% of humans to press blue, or 100% of humans to press red? If your goal is just personal survival then Red carries no risk of death, but if your goal is guaranteeing everyone survives you have the practical problems to consider.

Juan 🇦🇷 (PeterMJ arc)'s profile picture

If you don't press the red button you're stupid. There's a 50% chance you live if you press blue but 100% if you press red. If everyone presses red everyone lives.

This is a retarded question because the only possible negative is if you press the blue button if less than 50% pressed it It's just altruistic posturing despite there being a definitive best option for everyone involved
