This scene is cluing us in to something very important about Ansem. I believe it is the case that Ansem is Ventus from UX for several reasons outside of this scene. His presence here under the hood certainly calls back to Roxas behind here in KH2/Days. But if you need reason to dig deeper, take note of what Ansem says when Aqua asks “Who are you?” He tells her that he’s been here once before, but like the first time he doesn’t know “who he is or whence he came.” The thing is, this same scene continues to show us that he indeed understands he is Ansem the Wise. It also has continuity into KH3 where it’s very clear he understands who he is- and further Seeker of Darkness comes and accuses him of being able to reconstruct memories. So it begs the question- why does Ansem not know who he is or what time period he came from, yet understands he is indeed Ansem the Wise, and has never used the science of memory to figure it out in himself?

That’s the one right there. It masterfully ties the past to the present, and sets the stage for the future. After a tragic and bittersweet conclusion, it provides a glimmer of hope that everything will be okay. I love it
