This experiment shows how objects moving in a circle instantly travel in a straight line when the force holding them disappears. SpinLaunch uses this same physics idea to launch rockets

The G-Force inside of the ship would be so great that anything put inside of it would probably be crushed beyond recognition. Do you know how high the RPMs have to be to be able to throw a spaceship to into outer space? 🤔

Doesn’t work. Payload would be scrambled into paste before it reach launch speed

they’re not launching anything because the payloads will get crushed.

Pretty sure the spinny thing is going to have a serious unbalanced problem as soon as it lets go of the rocket.

Potential problem I see with this method: wouldn't a rocket being spun at launch speeds put too much stress on the frame in directions it wasn't designed to handle?

Couldn't imagine a human inside a rocket like that though. That would be some insane gforce

The same applies to electromagnetic radiation.

@grok, what kinds of payload can withstand the G-forces using this method?

Curious about the contents inside...will all that centrifugal force effect machines, equipment, certainly biological items are not suitable for that type of launch?

This experiment shows how objects moving at orbital speeds interact with Earth's lower atmosphere. Spin launch is about as effective as shooting a bullet into water.

Pretend this can launch at 1,000 mph. At launch the rocket is travelling in direction Y. A half-cycle early, it was travelling in direction -Y. If the launch arm has a 100-yard radius, that's a net 2,000 mph acceleration in half a second.

Rockets are typically pretty delicate so all that sideways g force is not going to work.

Hence “centrifugal” is a misnomer; “centripetal” is where it’s at. The former is center-fleeing the latter is center-seeking, however counterintuitive that may be. (Just consider a gravity well as the “center-seeking” force, absent which, there is no force whatever, and hence the object therefore spinning round that well will continue tangentially out from the point where it was when that force last existed.

Spin launch. Is it operational or still in the promising phase?

THIS SEEMS LIKE A GREAT METHOD to get raw materials to orbit. But anything that isn’t solid mass would be crushed

This would only be the case if the table. is not tilted, affected by a strong magnetic field, vibrating, or is not spinning. Also assumes the center of mass of ball is not off center.

The problem with this idea is that the contents would shift during the centrifuge phase and make the "rocket" unstable for flight. It would then disintegrate when launched. Rockets need to be carefully balanced to fly correctly.

The issue with this is G-forces. The acceleration fase could damage some of the satellite components and i do not think a human would survive the spin-up.

Theory flaws in this. The "projectile", when the gate is opened & into the directional tube/barrel, will have existing side forces that will provide for it to side pressure in the tube/barrel. Those side pressures will provide for the "projectile", to jamb in the tube or endo.

The physics that sends a ball flying off a string is the same physics being used to launch rockets into space. SpinLaunch turned a classroom experiment into a launch system. 🚀⚙️✨

They throw rockets like that? That’s scary. Soon they’ll start doing it with airplanes too cuz it’s “more efficient” or something 😀

The g force is no big deal when designed for it. There’s electronics that can take 100,000 G. Think about the electronics inside some artillery shells for example. The forces here aren’t even close. NOT a major engineering challenge, sorry dunning Krugerites.
