If the hospital was so unique and advanced, and its practioners were true specialists, and was surrounded by parks and playgrounds, I wonder what this woman found so intolerable about the population and culture that sustained it all that she wanted it erased.

The writing on the monument says that it was "liberated from Nazis" in May 2022. Mariupol was under Russian siege for months at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
