You don't get less visual recoil; literally the only thing that's changing is the scope placement, and with a red dot that does very little. Its better on higher zoomed scopes so you can have better eye relief relative to your setup and your own personal needs. Not to mention larger scopes will sit differently when you aren't ADSing, so you can see to your right.
