I hate to disagree. Cops have recording devices (when convenient to them) for their own safety. The suspect retains an equal right to record the interaction for his own physical and legal safety. A cell phone represents no physical threat to a police officer, but it does represent a legal hazard should the officer break the law.

Body cams are for officers AND civilians. Every ounce of footage is available to all parties involved as well as anyone that wants to FOIA the cam. The same way civilians don’t need lights and sirens when they are on the side of the highway. The cops already have them. His cellphone is equally unnecessary.

This kid already had a record... and was being pulled over for an active domestic assault warrant... he's a punk, and he got handled like a punk.
