It’s because Eric naively thinks that the entities that operates/controls the SCIFs and SAPs and the entities that operate in the civilian government are the same. The former is a walled-off, breakaway system that merely manages the latter like a farm/pasture. There was a coup in the aftermath of WW2 and Paperclip that hasn’t been acknowledged let alone reconciled.

Something died in me with this episode. I was so pumped to see it, but Davis completely capitulated. This is a disaster for the disclosure movement. I applaud Weinsteins scrutiny, but Davis wilted in a way I never expected. I feel like a child that found out Santa doesn't exist

Perhaps the physics that flies these things would be more disruptive than the physics that lead to nukes? Maybe the people running the prog are scared of that, so it's compartmentalized and noone is able to know enough to make progress and they especially don't want theoretical physicists getting the big picture.

I watched the intro then turned it off. Eric intentionally being a prick because he thinks it's cool to be disagreeable isn't interesting.

How does he know there are no top physicists working on it? The top physicists in the world might not even be publicly known.

Eric knows that they have cracked it but calling out their 'not-so-subtle acceptance of not cracking it' by simply logical reasoning.
