This was more interesting than I expected. I didn't expect a reasonable, careful explanation of the different approaches.

Asians worship white men. That probably helps

So with Indians you have to make them feel like they somewhat swindled you lol

One more thing with Black people. If you are white and trying to sell something to a black person, stop with the trying to change your persona and talking street slang to try to make them think you are cool with them. That doesn’t breed trust with them. Instead show them respect by being yourself. They appreciate you being genuine over trying to impress them with a fake persona. I’m a nerdy white guy. That’s what I’m comfortable being.

Selling to Indians- crank price up 10x, haggle, haggle, haggle down to your original price and then finally figure out they just love the process of haggling, stall tactics, complete BS and want something even cheaper. Time wasted can be measured in hours, days or even weeks 😂

My boyfriend had a client who asked if he speaks Chinese. He said no, but I speak good prices. The client said “Oh, you do speak Chinese!”. A good deal is the universal language.

Based on his own rules this was intended for a white audience

Every black person I know is very skeptical about buying from sales people. We have very low trust and will make you over explain, show results we can verify. If you hype me up, I see through that and that makes me even more suspicious of what you’re selling me. Black America ≠ Africa.

This is so surface level and overgeneralising.

Thinking everyone acts and thinks the same based on their skin color is ignorance. Especially since race is a social construct proven by science over and over again. What you’re talking about is culture and demographic. Either way people who think like this think they know everything and are super egotistical

True about Indians. When I see an Indian name I think ‘time waster’. They love giving their opinions and know best, but generally they waste your time.

I can say for sure with Indians this is correct 1) They will always want to tell you what you should be doing 2) They are only truly happy if they think you have lost money

Different races require different emphasis. Whites: testimonials Blacks: instant gratification, don't be abstract Indians: discount, concession Orientals: societal acceptance

I shit you not. This is almost bar for bar out of a sales book I read from the 1930s. I can't remember the name. I've read a bunch of em. The sales opportunities handbook (1932) maybe. Anyway. I've worked in sales and politics for years. My caveat to this is race makes less of a difference than culture. If a black guy is raised around Chinese people. Treat him how you'd treat other Chinese clients. It's harder to spot initially but vocal inflection and body language are your biggest clues.

Homogenizing an entire race of people to suggest that they all follow the same predictable patterns is inherently racist. Full stop.

I can upgrade that way of selling to Indians. You give them a way more expensive price and you tell them you’re high quality and that cheaper options have their cons. They will complain about the price. Find a way to give him a discount, like the man said, and they will book. Indians have some sort of weird cultural thing where they flex to each other how cheap they got something or how great of a deal. After the big discount, I’m charging them the same I charge everyone else but now they got their little price pride thingy fulfilled. 😂 Source: I have sold hundreds and hundreds of Indians on medium size bills.

When I was 10 I noticed how my dad talks to different people and my initial reaction was that he was being insincere. As I grew up I quickly realize that adjusting to the recipient is step one in being sociable.

He forgot Arabs From what I can tell it’s a mix of all of the above they want a deal but also want to trust the person but you have to provide proof on why they shouldn’t trust you as well as very family oriented with an ego, the only thing out of the list they don’t care about is listening to their problems like they’ll tell you what they want and if you don’t have a solution instantly they don’t care.

Exhausting when people say a particular race is “hard working”. Every race has hard workers. Nobody is especially hard working.

One of the most endearing qualities I've found in my experiences with Indians is that they like to haggle. I used to go the Indian stand at the farmers market near my house and pick out a few items to bundle and make them an offer. Its fun.

A salesman is the truest noticer profession because if he didn’t notice trends correctly his sales will go down. He makes more money by being able to accurately gauge a person through exterior characteristics.

From my experience in car sales Indian customers will buy as long as you give them just a little bit off the exact sales price , then u can sell whatever products you want on top. It’s a win win
