This guy explains why in old civilizations, homes in hot climates had courtyards

Now I want a U-shaped house facing north, with a courtyard.

Plus, if you add the pool, you can skinny dip in better privacy

Now have him explain why using jumpcuts every 3 seconds is necessary.

Never really thought about how architectural choices like courtyards were all about function.

I was in a Spanish-style hotel in Florida. A courtyard but open oceanside. What a breeze-thru if you opened your windows and transom.

Also because some people were wealthy enough to have 4 houses in a rectangle and an empty space in the middle. Rich people today have courtyards too.

Yah that courtyard isn't helping in a Texas 106 degree day with 100% humidity.

my next house will have a courtyard with a pool. facts

Courtyards require a large home to build around it. If you can afford it or build it, more power to you. Though if you add a lot of hardscape and it is not shaded, it will be hotter in a hot climate and be a terrible feature of home. So good design is critical.
