"A Lesson in Strength from Yobra" Today, I’ve relearned that everyone has their battles, and the difference lies in how they choose to handle them. I first met Yobra on September 25th last year. We laughed about how we share the same name. "Ma Yobra!" he said, and we shared a good laugh. I noticed he was carrying his child in front of the bike, the little one holding on so tightly. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. Later, he told me to post a clip—a compilation of greetings I get on the road. I did, but it drew some negativity, with online "road experts" criticizing how he carried his child. Fast forward five months to today, and I met him again. I made the same joke about our names, and he smiled before introducing me to his child. Casually, he mentioned that his child is blind. He didn’t dwell on it—he just went on with his story. What struck me was how matter-of-fact he was about it. He explained that he was taking his child to a special school before heading back to work. The way he carries his challenges, with strength and grace, left me in awe. Well this guy is now named AWESOME HAWAIIAN and he is running in his first race Churchill Downs on November 12th. Race 6 for Will Walden Please support him with a friendly wager. We are not sure he will win but we can make sure he goes off the favorite. What a wonderful story it will be if he wins. He has already overcome so much to make it this far.
