It's not just golf. I had a career adjacent to wildlife and fisheries mgmt., then later a similar one re. golf course mgnt. The issues are virtually identical.
Bang on.....same goes for golf professionals too.
He is exactly right.
90% of members are great, sadly there will always be those at every club that will be dissatisfied. If you try to please them then another 10% will be upset with that. Concentrate on keeping the majority happy and try to educate them all.

In 25 years of golf in Australia, I've never played with one person that's said anything negative to a greenkeeper. Must be a couple of bad apples, or top tier club stuff only?
