Single mom here. Raised my kid without a single dime of welfare or support. Yes, I worked a LOT, I had to learn to build a support network of family/friends. I never felt adequate as a mother but she’s a wonderful kid so I must have done something right. Was it worth it? Yes!!

I have a hard time with ppl saying they can’t work cause they have their kid and their single. I worked two jobs and a bunch of side gigs cleaning houses, detailing cars, shopping for elderly ppl. Baby girl came with every time cause I didn’t have child care. If there is a will, there is a way.

When I got divorced, I went on welfare & medicaid. I couldn't afford daycare for 2 kids with my skillset. In 3 mo time, I started an infant daycare as most facilities require toilet trained kids. It was very successful & off welfare shortly after. I loved my "job"and every baby. Welfare is a great safety net, not a lifestyle.

My single teenage mom worked two sometimes three jobs until I was in high school ~ until she worked her way up to middle management in a Fortune 500 company. She died at 61 without ever collecting government benefits, but I believe that’s what made her life more successful. This girl needs to get a job or two or three ~ or give her child to someone who is willing to provide & sacrifice for him.
