A protective adult bison charged her, hooked her jeans with its horn, dragged and tossed her across the road, and knocked her unconscious. Her pants eventually came off, causing her to fall to the ground as the bison returned to the herd. She suffered injuries but survived. Bison are wild, powerful animals that can weigh over 2,000 pounds and run up to 35 mph. They are especially dangerous when protecting calves and can attack without warning. National and state parks strongly advise keeping at least 25 yards (about 75 feet) away from bison and other large wildlife at all times. If a black bear walks up to you, never run or play dead. Stop, stand your ground, and make yourself look as big as possible. Raise your arms, speak in a loud, assertive voice, and back away slowly. A masked protester STOLE my microphone and threw it as far as possible at a Palestine protest in Brooklyn, New York. I asked police officers to look for the stolen microphone but they had no luck finding it. As I was talking you can literally hear protesters voices as they likely picked up the microphone and walked away with it. NEW: Georgia deputy shoots and kills two aggressive bulls after they charge during loose cattle call On May 9, 2026, Jeff Davis County deputies responded to reports of loose cattle damaging property and wandering into the roadway. When they arrived, the animals turned out to be bulls. One deputy was forced to stay inside his patrol vehicle after the bulls charged and followed him down the road. A second deputy, attempting to locate the owners, was approached by aggressive bulls on a porch. After firing a warning shot at one bull’s feet that had no effect, a deputy shot and killed the most aggressive bull as it continued toward him. A second bull then approached the porch in an aggressive manner, and Floyd shot and killed it as well. The third bull was later guided back to its property. The sheriff’s office has said additional video and documentation exist beyond what has been publicly released and plans to release the full footage once redactions are complete. Kenji, the baby Mooseweiler, is learning to be comfortable with a muzzle. He isn't aggressive or likely to bite someone, so why do we do this? Emergency preparedness. If he's ever seriously injured the vet clinic will likely muzzle him as soon as they take him into the back. Even the gentlest of dogs with the best temperaments might become fearful and bite if they are in pain and someone tries to exam their injury. Especially if it's a stranger or they already have negative feelings about vet clinics. Even something as straightforward as a torn nail can be painful enough that a muzzle is used. Putting the muzzle on allows the veterinary team to quickly and safely examine the dog, perform first aid, or start an IV for sedation if needed. If a dog has never worn a muzzle, it can add to the stress and fear they are already experiencing from being restrained and examined while being in pain, especially if they try to resist having it put on. It's much easier on the dog and the veterinary team if the dog is comfortable with wearing a muzzle. If the dog has had a lot of positive conditioning with the muzzle it can actually help calm them as it's something familiar with good emotions attached. Anytime I can help my dogs avoid unnecessary stress, I'll do it. Muzzle training is one way and it helps ensure we're prepared for emergencies. Often when someone sees a dog wearing a muzzle, they assume the dog is aggressive. That's often not the case. It could simply be wearing it during training to get comfortable with it or it might be a dog that eats things off the ground. It could also be a responsible owner of a fearful dog that might snap if an unleashed dog rudely runs up. A muzzle doesn't mean a dog is bad.
