This video shows it done right. The wood resists compression. If the gate sags, one diagonal gets longer, the other shorter. Wood goes where it becomes shorter and fights compression-no sag. You see some gates with a steel wire on the other diagonal, fighting tension-no sag.

It’s also hinged by a free standing post, which is wrong. Put the hinge side against the house, so you can bolt the top of the post to the house. That post holding the gate is going to lean in no tile with that setup.

Well, that explains things. The cable system on my gate is installed backwards. No wonder it's sagging. It has a metal framework and the cable goes in the opposite direction of how he has the board going diagonally from the opposite of the top hinge down to the bottom hinge.
