This guy just found out he’s been using the screen door stopper wrong his entire life... and so have I 😭 He always slid that metal piece all the way up to hold the door open… until an old man casually showed him the real way. Have you been... show more

Not the way it's meant to be done. It holds the door only in that one position. Using it the correct way, the way this guy was previously using it, allows you to hold the door open at any angle.

@iamnobody1961 This only works if your support was mounted weird. Most don't even get close to door edge.

STOP We have all been using it as intended. This little “hack” will disappoint you, because it’s NOT the correct way to keep the door open. It will slip, and the door will close. I seent it

Putting the stopper against the door is the wrong way.

This is idiotic. The closer mechanism won't last a year if you do this - the leverage of the back of the door will pull the closer mounting bracket and tear it out of the door jam. Stupid is as stupid does...

This is wrong and stupid. Read the instructions if you don't believe me.

The “right way” shown in this video will damage your door.

No, it goes all the way to the piston. The stopper on my door doesn't even come close to the door.

Per this manufacturer, the instructions say the washer should be moved behind the cylinder, not this nonsense. "To hold the door in the open position using a standard closer, open the door and slide the washer along the closer rod until it is located behind the closer cylinder. When the door panel is released, the cylinder will rest against the washer to hold the door in the open position."

@RealLPoslaiko Never take advice from Nigel

I'm 61. This is me right now

Why would you want to leave a screen door open? Most people leave the main door open, keep the screen door closed and allow for air flow into the house. Is this bait? Lmfaoo

I would rather use the "stop" against the cylinder than to place this load against the door itself which might slowly tear the door up. The load is applied to the door through the screws holding the cylinder to the door instead of directly to the door edge each time as shown in the vid...

Wow! 6 F-bombs in 30 seconds. Completely unnecessary.

That will dent the door over time !

It wouldn't work on a wooden door. The lock tab would gouge and splinter a wood door.

Either way works 🤷♂️

Oh damn. I’m now having to rethink EVERYTHING!

Amazing how learning something later than your grade school age constitutes several “ WTF’s”. Guess this guy and every other dork that posts the same exact expletive laced videos when they learn their next “life changing hack” assumes all learning has stopped for them after school. Honestly probably had stopped for the most part 😒

Holy fuckin shit, I've literally never seen anybody doit that way 😂😂

that isn’t the way and wouldn’t work on most screen doors. You people will believe anything.

I was today years old when I learned I was doing it wrong.

Wow, that's truly magic! Show us how you use fork & knife and tie shoe laces, I'm sure there's plenty more to learn. 🤣

This is stupid, the first way is the right way because you can adjust the position of the door, the second way only has one position. Just stupid…

I always figure if this many people got it wrong, then the manufacturer was not clear enough

Nobody told you were doing it wrong because you were doing it right.

This is a way that works in some cases, it is not how it's meant to be used. Just cause it can be done does not make it right.

That’s NOT how you’re supposed to do it. You were doing it right the first time. You can damage the door your new way.

Cause it’s *not* the way, and if your door does not have a stop preventing it from opening that far it risks bending the closer bar.

You just learned other people do things wrong. 😑

Accept over time it will damage the door and eventually stop working because it will rip a chunk out.

I was today years old when...
