After laying a wreath at the NWM to pay homage to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation, he was presented a tri-services Guard of Honour at the South Block of the national capital. A highly decorated officer with over four decades of service, General Raja Subramani was commissioned into the Garhwal Rifles in December 1985. His distinguished career includes a number of key Command and Staff appointments including General Officer Commanding 2 Corps, GOC-in-C Central Command and the Vice Chief of Army Staff. Prior to assuming the appointment of CDS, he served as Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat. The General officer acknowledged the exemplary leadership and contribution of his illustrious predecessors and pledged to build upon their achievements. He expressed his gratitude to the Nation for the trust reposed in the Armed Forces and said that the Armed Forces would work in unison with all stakeholders as part of Whole of Nation Approach to further strengthen National Security. He stated that he would work towards enhancing Jointness, Integration and Synergy in the Armed Forces and focus on accelerated development, induction and integration of indigenous weapons to achieve Atmanirbharta. He called for innovation in thought and action and greater collaboration between all stake holders to drive capability development and modernisation. For the first time, the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine and the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted joint command post exercises with the support of the Security Assistance Group–Ukraine (SAG-U). The importance of these exercises is driven by the adjacency of the corps’ areas of responsibility on the front line. Accordingly, staff officers focused on synchronizing joint efforts and refining joint planning. "Your task is to make military decisions quickly and effectively," Brigadier General Yevhen Lasiychuk, commander of the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, told officers during the training. In turn, the commander of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine, Brigadier General Denys Prokopenko, emphasized that the purpose of the exercises was to ensure coordination at the junction of the corps, building an integrated system of reconnaissance, fire engagement, and mining to prevent the enemy from breaking through the defensive line. The Commander of the Air Assault Forces, Major General Oleh Apostol, also addressed the officers: "Officers must be able to thoroughly analyze the situation and provide the commander with objective operational information. I would like to share a few words about the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: 🔹 Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi previously commanded the Land Forces of Ukraine, the Joint Forces, and key operational groupings on the most critical frontlines. 🔹 He is a recipient of the "Cross of Combat Merit" and a full Knight of the "Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky." 🔹 Mykhailo is 43 years old and has risen through the ranks of the Armed Forces - so he knows the Army well and has a broad perspective. 🔹 In 2014, as commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion, Mykhailo led a daring BMP-2 breakthrough through separatist barricades to aid defenders in Mariupol. He also withdrew Ukrainian troops from encirclement near Izvaryne, served as chief of staff, first deputy commander of the 30th Mechanized Brigade (which fought in Avdiivka and the Yasynuvata district of Donetsk region), and later commanded the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. 🔹 During the full-scale invasion, he commanded the "South" grouping, stopping the Russian advance on Kryvyi Rih and contributing to the liberation of the right bank of Kherson region in 2022. 🔹 In 2024, he headed the defense that halted the Russian offensive near Kharkiv and later commanded the Luhansk operational group. 🔹 In late 2024, he was appointed Commander of the Land Forces and simultaneously led the "Khortytsia" operational-strategic grouping.
