A bit of a stretch in my opinion. Our sins crucified Jesus. Saying "crucify him" during the reading of the Passion only helps me to have a deeper contrition for those sins.

It was part of this morning’s reading. It has always felt uncomfortable, but I suppose Easter is about making us all feel uncomfortable about our selfishness and preoccupation with worldly things. It’s to humble us when we reflect on our sinful nature.

Invite @FrJMawdsley to talk about his books, he’s doing an important outreach apostolate, addressing very specific and astounding topics every catholic should know about

Chose not to say the last few lines of the crowd this morning, wife as well. We also noticed they removed all mention of scourging and the crown of thorns or Pilates washing his hands. Disappointing. Very disappointing.

There is certainly guilt when saying it. But my sins are just as responsible for his death as anyone else's, as he died for all our sins. Therefore I played a part in his passion in some way.

Do we not crucify Him every time that we sin?

You would do well to invite Fr on your show in order that more people could hear and understand his message. I feel he has an important mission .

Luisa Piccarreta goes even further to say that the Blessed Virgin Mary shouted crucify Him. When I read that, I felt so weird. I’m glad I didn’t continue reading that. Thanks for the clip! God Bless you!

Personally, never once have I shouted this in mass, whether I realized the larger implications of it, pertaining to the NO mass structure. I’ve always stood silently as the long gospel reading plays itself out.

“You should never again call for his crucifixion, unless you’re doing a passion play…” that’s ….exactly…..what….we are doing father. It’s a role play. Every single sin we do is crying out “crucify him”.

Today, the Palm Sunday Gospel was nicely read at Mass by Deacon. No cringe 4-person performance. The congregation do not co-read the Gospel, out loud. I expect readers at Mass to be clear and audible; I do not "read along," ever. So I never knew when to shout my part anyway

NO. I have ALWAYS HATED IT...even as a kid. No one else ever said a word about it, but I would just never do it. Couldn't bring myself to say it. Would stand there and bawl, instead, and still do. I don't believe I'm being prideful--I just cannot utter the words against Jesus...who has already had so many turn against him--then, and now. Have I disappointed Him, and did my sins crucify Him?--YES...BUT I CANNOT BEAR TO KNOWINGLY SAY IT WITH MY LIPS in His HOUSE, in His time of suffering. God forgive me, I am a sinner.

We literally just did it at Palm Sunday Mass today. And every Palm Sunday mass my entire life. I didn't today because I happened to see this earlier before Mass. But even as adult I followed along.

I don’t say the words. I have no desire to crucify Jesus. Maybe the people who called this out were mislead or ignorant. But I’m not. Hopefully that is true of everyone at Mass.

100% agree! My dad taught my brothers and I never to participate in reciting those lines “Crucify Him, Crucify Him.”

So many people in the comments thinking "my sins were responsible for his crucifixion, do what's the big deal?"... There's a huge difference between that and actively shouting for/willing his crucifixion in persona judaeorum imo.

When it came to the Passion reading I could not in good conscience join in

Based on this I didn’t say it today but I was trying to understand Fathers point. Is the passion reading not to get people engaged into the story? And isn’t the point to feel uncomfortable? Just asking as it was my first time attending today.

We all crucified Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior because of our sin but simultaneously we (all Christians) are all crusified with him. Gal 2:20

I refuse! I'm sure the Apostles, Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene did not shout crucify Him! My sins dud crucify Him but I am reborn and confess my sins monthly, living in the Grace of God. No one living in God's Grace shoujd shout crucify Him! Mockery indeed!

So grateful to be LCMS now. I was literally telling my husband this AM (we were RC converts and practiced devoutly for 25 yrs) that I was so relieved not to do the performative reading of the passion on Palm Sunday. Lutherans don’t do that. As a RC, I dreaded this mass every yr.

We should never say such words. We should never repeat the words of our Lord's murderers.
